This is the death of Castlevania!? Iga and his team turned Dracula in to a Japanese teenager from the future and you're saying that THIS game is the death of Castlevania? Are you fucking kidding me?

Hahaha

As much as I love that game it is so damn true. As far as story goes at least yes you are correct.

The only bad thing I can say about Lords of Shadow is that, so far it looks like there are not many RPG elements.

But even if you equate modern Castlevania games with metroid-vania RPGs (like I do!) there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I believe that IGA is working on the super-secret Alucard game that will come out not too much after LoS.

Maybe it is wishful thinking for me to think so, but I still believe the Alucard game will happen; and it will have RPG elements, a big metroid-vania map (in 3-D of course) and and unlockable version of SotN with the extra Saturn areas re-done!!

You would think people on this site would be happy theres no rpg elements this is how castlevania started if anyone has forgotten.

Even so he said we gain experience in the form of points that can be used to upgrade weapons and you get life boosts and such so yeah.

Me too. Leveling up made most of the recent games cakewalks; besides, this is supposed to be a 3D iteration of a classic style Castlevania.

This game is just bad. Death of Castlevania has come :( Same story with Silent Hill. Konami is killing everything with their remaining! Shattered memories was awful. Sad. The same with this. I hope I am wrong, though, but for now I am mourning.

Yeah I'm a little confused on where you are getting this...I mean seriously there hasn't been this much hype for a castlevania game in a long time. It has been on several top ten most anticipated game lists so I'm a little confused on how you think this is going to be like silent hill. Unless you are just a huge fan of the whole pretty boy rpg styled then yeah I guess I can see why because obviously this isn't going to be that type of game, its going to be a Castlevania game not some preteen anime melodrama where all the main characters look like j-rockers with poorly written reiteration of an over used story, that was never Castlevania to begin with.

What is the logic behind releasing so little information or promotion. I understand that it will come out post E3 and a good deal will be shown there, but don't they want people to be brewing over it and getting hyped?

They probably don't wanna interfer with the release of God of War 3. It's better to wait and get full attention from action gamers and media. Dunno, just a thought.

Wow, these look great! Cox said we'd get stuff, and he delivered. It does seem like the anti-aliasing has gone down from before, but the textures seem a lot better.

Oh, also, lolgoblins

Very nice screens indeed  :D
I'm also slowly embracing this new look... the goblins doesn't look like Castlevania at all to me, but I don't really care at this point. Game is shaping up really well, visually.

I just looked this up. So in Super Castlevania 4, they had enemies called goblins, but they looked like this:

It's like he went: "They had an enemy called a goblin in CV4, but it didn't look like a goblin at all. Let's make them goblins and call it a day"
