yeah, what a shame.

if only those ghouls and that castle had been in the actual game..

wait a second

Castle and Ghouls? -yes.  Castle soaked in gothics and dreary rainfall?  -no.  You see Castles and ghouls are a dime a dozen --cliche even...  Mario, Zelda, and Final Fantasy all have Castles --none are Castlevania.  This trailer is much closer to the real thing than the final product.

Nonsense, you need to read between the lines.  Rainfall is merely an atmospheric detail --and by itself, perhaps it's nothing...  But then you see the architechure, the gargoyle, the moonlight --and you know exactly where you are.  The dark, melancholy, mysterious, and gothic atmospherics DEFINE Castlevania --and sets it apart from the pretenders.  I'm no fan of the N64 Castlevanias, but even with their glaring flaws, both games nailed the atmosphere.  At some point someone decided to throw out the rich gothic legacy and replace it with this atmosphere of ruin and decay.  There are a few moments that maybe try to capture the spirit, but none come close to what we can see plain as day in this trailer.

except its the exact same castle. the only thing that changed from that is instead of rainfall, we have snow. look at stages like the balcony and the outer wall. the gargoyles, the night atmosphere still exists.

what you're doing right now is nitpicking.

The snow makes a big difference doesn't it?  Brightens things up a bit...  The balcony was one of the better moments --I can see why they used it in the trailers --the scale was just incredible...  And like I said, there are moments like that...  As for nitpicking --that's just what fans do.   8)

It just occurred to me just now...  Maybe I don't remember, but after watching the trailer again I noticed the bats in the background.  With all that snow --are there any bats in Lords of Shadow?  Any at all?

oh baby i guess the game would've been roughly the same

I think I prefer Gabriel over this Simon and his smug smirk and glowing power arm.

Now that I don't remember, but it's been several months since I played through.  I do remember killing a bunch of those annoying flying Gremlins, but I can't recall if that was in the Castle or not.  Seems like those things were cave-dwellers...

Sorry if it's been said, but those aren't ghouls, they are newly turned vampires. I like them, creep looking.

I like the end of the trailer, the classic drawbridge scene before the castle. Reminded me o Lament a bit.

Simon looks ooook to me. I dig the Crusades era look, but he's a little too Altair'sh and dark/italian looking.. he needs to be tweaked a little bit more add more CV 1 thru 4 style Simon design! Like Sindra mentioned, not the way we know him, but they should at least make that skin available in the game, to choose, maybe after you beat it..

He.....still looks remarkably like how Gabe ended up looking. Not blonde with a headband or anything resembling Simon the way we know him.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=_wFanK1C4bY#at=129

Its  not like Simon has had one solid look throughout the years... The only "lasting" look was his Kojima one. otherwise, it went from brown hair barbarian to blond hair knight in armor, to barbarian with blue hair, black/brown hair in blue armor, to red hair in leather and fur. And possibly a few more im forgetting.

another new look for him wouldnt be anything surprising.

ironically though, I find the final gabriel to look much more like a Castlevania protagonist than the pitch Simon.

I hope they change Simon's outfit as this is something that I can only see him wearing for his CV2 look...maybe. But as of now, he almost comes across as a copy of Gabriel. And the Assassin's Creed look might get noticed in the wrong way (sue-happy people time!) It's still an early video so we'll just have to wait and see.
