Well, what do you guys think? I think he's got a wicked sense of style, so you can at least count on it being visually AWESOME, and I liked his past films. AND that poster is bitchin', even if it's just like a super teaser. What else is cool about this?

It means that if CV:LoS is meant to be part of a trilogy, one of the entries is likely to be released in conjunction with the film, and since the film is likely going to be something along the lines of "Badass hero battles Dracula and his minions and followers" or whatever, I doubt CV:LoS is going to throw away that idea, because it would confuse the general audiences expecting to fight Dracula at some point. At least, that's what I think.

That is kickass. James knows how to make good films. This'll be interesting to follow. It's nice to have somebody at the helm who actually cares about the product.

This actually looks like it might be fun. (At least, more fun than the previous Castlevania live-action ideas).

I actually got a little excited when I saw that poster. It looks amazing. I'm really hopefully now that James Wan is working on this project. He seems to actually know at least a little bit about what the game is about (from the small comments he gave) and so far, it sounds pretty promising. I actually expect to see Death in the movie now, lol.

Yeah, because there are still a select few that prefer generic Conan-esque men with very creative outfits:

Y'know, maybe if it was made in the 80s...LOL! Conan was big back then! Then again, we might've gotten something like the live-action Masters of the Universe movie, but with Castlevania. Y'know, Dracula will show up on a crome throne with lasers firing all about. Simon will befriend  children and such.

I'm sure he won't put 2nd wolrd war soldiers hiding in a Castle

Uhh...Bloodlines was set during WWI, and PoR in WWII, so doesn't it make sense that there would be soldiers there? I've always thought that every time Castlevania re-appears, Dracula gets a feel for the zeitgeist and sterals the souls of the most evil things around, thusly explaining the Hellenic, Renaissance, and Japanese demons and myths all existing next to each other. Now I'm yet to notice any Hindu demons, but I'm also yet to see a Middle-Eastern CV, so this makes sense. However, as previously stated, we've had two games set during the world wars, and who were the demons of those times?

Ok, now I'm really excited.  From what you guys are saying, it sounds like this James Wan is great when it comes to writing/directing movies.  Anyway, the "movie poster" looks awesome and regardless of whether it's real or not, just looking at it gets me excited.

Anyway, regarding the presence of the katana, there have been katanas in several CV games and SotN had several different types of them.  I doubt that Alucard had ever been to Japan between CV3 and SotN.

Besides, the idea of a combination of grabing an enemy with the whip and killing it with the katana mentioned by one of you guys it a cool idea.

In conclusion, it seems that the movie could be good and even though I am an atheist, I am praying that this movie is awesome.  Right now, all we can do is wait and see.

I see only one problem with the Katana in concert with the whip. If you're a Belmont then you don't need any other weapon to kill the enemy cause it's the mystic Vampirekiller. Anything that's undead or related to the undead will die from it. Also since the whip is a two and a half meter long chain with a morning star spike ball at the tip any other living creature will suffer serious injuries due to being struck by it. HEAD TRAUMA OOOHH!  :-X

But for me in all honesty I think that the best CV movie to make would be Bloodlines due to the fact that we already have Brahm Stoker's Dracula on the big screen. Castlevania could go with that flow as did the game.  :)

Simon Belmont was shown to have a sword alongside his whip in the original Castlevania artwork, although obviously you couldn't use it in the game.  Reinhardt Schneider was the first person who used the Vampire Killer also shown to use a short sword in the actual game for close quarters combat.  They come in handy.  Though, a Katana can't really be used in the same way...
