The only way I'd get this again (counting the PSP version here which I have) is if it has the original voice acting and all, wasn't too big on the updated Japanese voice acting. I like my stuff to be original and all, the original voice acting just had a certain charm to it that I didn't find as appealing when it got updated.

Yeah, the new Japanese actors in Dracula X Chronicles are very bored with their jobs.

Especially Dracula, which is just not acceptable.

I think it's something like 270 "blocks." You've got that big honkin' CD soundtrack to think about.

As for controllers, it'll use any and all of them. It's just a two-button game, so take your pick.

I find it a tad annoying that when playing it on the classic controller, you have to use B and A for whip and jump. I'd prefer Y and B, since, y'know, that was the SNES standard. Why does the Virtual Console still not support custom button mapping for games other than arcade titles?

that's too bad about the button mapping.  i'm trying to play Simon's Quest with the same mapping on the Classic Controller, and it's just not cutting it.  as long as they let you use the sideways wii-remote with "A" as the item crash, i suppose i'll be ok.  thank God you could remap on ReBirth.

guess I'll have to remove Super Mario 64 from my main memory (don't play it much, but I was trying to have all my Castlevania and Mario titles on the main memory, and everything else on the stick)

Thats pretty dope, its a good game. Been playin it on my psp for a while now... and you can connect it to a tv with a simple a/v cord you gotta get.

Been through that in another thread; the PSP blows when connected to a TV. It's not at all the same.

Would any of the other import Castlevania games be worth buying if they had them?  I know the Japanese Dracula's Curse has plenty of differences that might make it worth getting (I'd get mad if I accidentally "left behind" an ally, but I'm sure that'd be the second option).  Simon's Quest probably has too much text to be a proper import, don't know if the original Castlevania I or IV have any significant differences.

I wonder if reading the operator's manual would give you any text in English instructions.  I suppose they could put some translated dialog there if they really felt like it or it could help you if navigating the menus is a little hard.

The Japanese Castlevania III is definitely worth having. Better music, some impressive graphical effects not in the US version, some enemy variations, gameplay difficulty's a bit more balanced, and there's nekkid statues and strong religious imagery that was removed from the US release. I believe the first game is essentially the same, save for seeing a "now loading" screen since it was a Disk System game. I don't remember the music or anything being any different.

Castlevania II sounds worse. I don't know if there are many other differences. I'm guessing the US version is the superior one if simply for the better sounding tunes.

Castlevania IV is uncensored and definitely worth having/playing.

Also, the Japanese version of Dracula's Curse is easier (If that wasn't mentioned), so that's a plus for some.

By Jove, you're right. :o I wonder why I never realized that before. 'Course, I've only played through the Japanese version once or twice, but you'd think with how heavily ingrained the US version's whip sound is in my mind, I'd have heard the difference right away.

That's awesome, but I'm still waiting for Bloodlines to be released. That's my 3rd favorite Castlevania game of all time, it's only topped by Castlevania 4 and Symphony of the Night IMO.

Bloodlines is sooooo darn good. That's definitely up there for me (I'd probably rank 'em IV, I, and then Bloodlines for my top three).

That would be great! I love that game, but I wouldn't expect to see that ever. Which is a shame.
