That's not how you felt, and were acting. You kept hyping KOFXII as the best fighting game ever, called it a "masterpiece," gave a million excuses as to why any negative thing that was said about it should be written off, and threw out personal insults to anyone who said otherwise... The same stuff you are doing with Harmony of Despair. Once people bought it, and the online complaints started coming, you vanished. It wasn't until this was announced that you resurfaced. Will you once again disappear, once the post-release complaints start coming?
(first of all you would know the other board members insulted me at the KOF board, I only lashed back because I have a right to defend myself )

I wasn't on those boards anymore because I was playing KOFXII. Why dwell on some board where people argue back and forth?    And KOFXII gameplay system wise is a masterpiece, most people overlooked that because the character selection size and single player modes didn't match their preferences and they had bad experiences online (I had some lagless matches online, and yes there was laggy matches.  but it was very playable from my experiences and really no different from the good and very bad lag matches you'll find in games like DOA4 and Tekken 6 online.  Just keep in touch with players with  compatible connection speeds and you'll be fine.  )

Back to Harmony of Despair.
I refuse to come back here after I get Harmony of Despair, just to untangle the knots the critics wrap themselves into.   :P  They poison their own views with their closed-minded, unfair and ignorant criticisms, that's their loss and their own tragedy.

I'm not going to help them see the light because it isn't worth it.  Haters will keep hating, they will never change their minds because they could never accept their views as being wrong or misguided.  That stuff prevents many people from enjoying games, and what turns people into old crabs who don't cherish anything and take everything for granted and dwell on all the bad or what they think is bad.

Those that are skeptical but possibly end up understanding and loving the game, that's nice for them.

I will be busy enjoying the game myself instead of debating about what's good and what isn't good on these boards.

I only share my views and opinions, I never expect anyone to believe a game is great just because I believe a game is great.  The answer to whether this game is for them will depend on their own hands-on experience, tastes and preferences.    If they already decided based on negative reviews, then they are truly lost.      ;D

It sucked, and it sucked hard. That's it.
Strangely enough, IGn says it's only ofr CV fans, that's a shame, if you are a CV fan, you SHOULD NOT play this game, purchasing it is just encouraging Konami and IGA to tke garbage out to the market.

That "game" is what Iga really thinks about his loyal customers/fans lol, the Igawhores got what they wanted... same sprites (even from gba), randomly ripped parts from other castle games with a bad or non relation between room and room, non Belmonts on the trailer :S just their latest heroes and the most funny~ the same poor tree repeated along the whole background, Iga is commiting the same error like Judgment, a good base idea but the development its just too poor... not worked to the 100%

Why dont they just change it to Alucard's Chronicles instead Castlevania and we all are happy each one by their side  ;)

Its just an insult to the fans of Castlevania who spect something good from Iga (no, its not a joke, i actually was waiting for something like the Demon Castle Wars) but w/e, we will have Lords of Shadow <3

Always taking things out of context, and using Orwellian doublespeak to make your point... It's like you're just screwing with everyone.

Amduscias, couldn't agree more.

I wonder how reviews will influence opinion of this game in the eyes of non-CV gamers?

I personally hope that it will get, exactly what it deserves...nothing good. And maybe (though unlikely) IGA will take a note that you couldn't sell one and the same thing ten times in a row. Sooner or later everyone will  become sick of it.

well, i have to say that the game fits my needs at this point completely, as far as i know.  can't tell you how many times i've played one Castlevania game, but was wishing that i could play it as one of the heroes from a previous game (and not like the neutered Alucard in DoS).  its good that the games always had a new protagonist with all new stuff, but every once in a while, i'd like to go back and try something new with the old characters.  they could always release a special edition of an old game and let you play as the other characters with all their gear, but the old games are structured to the hero they were designed for and it'd be hard to paste a full RPG experience for a different character's old set of gear onto them.

i've also played these big games and just thought "man, there's just so many neat items in this game, but really i cannot play and get the most out of them".  you really only have a given item selected for a tiny amount of time in a Metroidvania game until the next thing comes along and it's cast to the side.  if you do want to replay an area with different stuff in the Metroidvanias, you'll find that you're too far leveled up for the experience to mean anything, or you'll have to start a "whole new game" and work your way back to that point.  the replay factor in HD, which would certainly be annoying to a lot of people, is something i can revel in and something i've wanted.  always trying to do the same thing with different stuff and different characters that i know and love?  sounds like fun to me.

i really hope this game succedes so that they do in fact port it to the PS3 and offer a good supply of new download-able characters and levels.

Oh, wow. So Destructoid actually noticed the recycled sprites? Very interesting...

Wait a minute... wait a minute...
Affinity, you're going to LEAVE once the game is out?

Well that's ONE positive thing it's got going.  LOLOLOLOLOL Just kidding, man.  It's all good. :P

To the people who get this game, let me know whether you can count the number of brand new enemies in one hand, two, or if there are more.  We can probably make a drinking game out of it somehow.

Hm. I'm literally embarresed to read about this game now. Please just make it go away! Harmony of Despair could possibly harm the sales of Lords of Shadow... At least for the 360 crowd. They're gonna see LoS in the store and go "Castlevania? Oh yeah, I remember that god awful game from last summer. There's no way I'm buying another Castlevania game, ever again."

Most non-CV fans whom I spoke to at Otakon (the Anime Con that happens on the east coast) said it looks "Interesting" and said things like "I liked the ones for DS, I might pick this up if I've got spare money".

Most CV fans, however, shared the sentiments of this forum, which are "I'm paying for a Frankenstein'd mixmatch of the DS games with probably mixmatched music and no plot?  Um..."

Let me stomp a little more on the fanboyism party that is overflowing this topic because they're missing their classic 8 bit hardcore challenges only CV1, 3, 4 and Rondo gave to them.

I'd be second to note that I don't give two shits about recycled enemies either.  The system of expansive loot and having all 5 characters from SOTN era games complete with their individual gameplay draws me in.  The only thing I have issues with is the game length, but it'll improve once dlc comes out, and 15 bucks for gameplay that lets you choose your own playstyle from a package that would otherwise cost near 80 bucks for separate games makes this a no brainer to me.

Recycled enemies is alright. Recycled everything? Not so much.

Hahahahahaaaaaa...!

Oh my my. Look what has become of this little game. Is it not EXACTLY what I said it would be when it was confirmed the screen shots were real?

DAMN, it feels good to be right. Though I suppose I get that feeling an awful lot.

But each to his own...

I don't mind that either if they get new tricks, which I hear is what the bosses were outfitted with.  These are the same kind of people that complain about how every CV game that plays the same is garbage, which is hypocritical if established gameplay is what the CV series is known for.  There's a core for each game that doesn't have to change, yet people keep begging for it to, like they want Mega Man to lose his arm cannon and just attack by kicking his enemies in his next 8 bit game.

I'm not going to just bend over to the usual swaf of haters that pollute this board like a group of cockroaches.  I'm going to play Harmony of Despair and damn well try to like it.

But for the record, KOF12 was a disaster waiting to happen since its announcement, and it bombed because it was a demo of what we're getting now, KOF13, which should be a tad better.
