Anyone who says Lords of Shadow will be better than Harmony of Despair are brainwashed by Kojima, and forget that there is room to enjoy 2-D in new fun ways!   HoD is much closer to classic CV gameplay and art style and mood!    Lords of Shadow spits on everything Castlevania and can never replace 2-D Castlevania!

Co-op is very innovative and a good way to enjoy Castlevania in a different way instead of a straight up single player SOTN or OOE clone.

HoD is really looking to be what I envisioned for a long time.  And they said there will be DLC planned for more characters and possibly more stages and items!

The gear system is brilliant!  It's better than allowing people to get raw level ups and just making it too easy!  at least gear based enhancements has a better chance of keeping things balanced and interesting!

Harmony of Despair truly is shaping up to be the GREATEST GAME EVER CREATED!!!!!   ^_^
5 legendary characters I always wanted to use on console (well Alucard already was, but the other 4
were DS exclusive.   Castlevania always belongs on console.)

This should come to PS3 but I'm convinced to buy a Xbox360 for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    CV fans underestimate the fun factor and magnificent value of this Castlevania!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

squeeee!!  yay!  zoom options too!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I like to play with close zoom but the far zoom can be helpful in some cases too.   :)

new video!  Lots of customization!

Probably some Konami PR guy who registered specifically for damage control.

umm, wow, I seriously have no words to describe what you just said. You're probably the dumbass talking in that GameTrailers video. That was just sad the way that guy was trying to sell this game. As a HUGE Castlevania fan i've gotta say this game looks TERRIBLE.

I would say despite the horrible looking graphics, the new mechanics seems to be interesting if you enjoyed the DS CV trilogy. As long as this serves as an appetizer before Lords of Shadow to keep me company, it's no big deal. Plus you get to hear newly arranged famous tunes selected from the trilogy, that is fine by me.

when you're old enough to understand people can enjoy and appreciate something you don't enjoy,
then you'll see taste is based on perspective, not rights and wrongs.

I was suppose to say something profound here. I don't 'do' profound so much as ramble so...whatever. Here lies text. Congratulations for reading it.  You were as bored as I am. Seriously, stop reading, you can't be that bored.  Still here? Really?  You officially are my new favorite person and now are owed one internet cookie. Don't eat it though, it gives you bad gas.

I can live with this if it's xbl (as opposed to a ds title).

I'm a girl and it's foolish to make assumptions about anyone like what you said. There is a huge positive side to HoD despite your failure of understanding it. I played all the major Castlevanias since NES and not a stranger to the franchise.   The franchise need not be a one trick pony with past formulas in order to provide fun ways to enjoy it in future games, otherwise Castlevania gameplay would be trapped by its own frozen traditions.

Boasting about yourself being a HUGE Castlevania fan only proves how your love is your own curse from understanding and accepting beyond what you experienced before.

The more of a fan you are, the more closed minded you are, blind in your own
fanatical opinionated obsession of what you would accept or reject from a Castlevania.

Intelligent fans are far more open minded instead of treating their own opinions as absolute 'facts'.
Your 'opinion' as a 'HUGE castlevania fan' doesn't have any more significance than someone else's opinion,
if it's not your taste, that's fine, but don't act like anyone who shares a positive opinion about it is
crazy or not right in the head, because that only proves you are not right in the head with your self-centered conceited beliefs in what you think is best for Castlevania.

I'll say it again.
when you're old enough, or should I say educated enough, to understand people can enjoy and appreciate something you don't enjoy, then you'll see taste is based on perspective, not rights and wrongs.

This goes for any Castlevania fan.

If you fail to accept that, then look in the mirror and discover who the true dumbass is.

So you are the worst of fans because 2 posts earlier you said LOS "destroyed everything that CV has made thourgh the years". And of course, that's BS, it's more CV that this piece of s****. Hope you enjoy your yaoi Alucard with recycled sprites ;)

I have taken back what I said about Lords of Shadow.

While having this headache of a discussion with short sighted ingrates,  I realized my error about Lords of Shadow, yes, it's not my taste for a Castlevania, but I accept it will be a fun Castlevania for those interested in that new style of Castlevania.   At least I can accept and respect that much.
What about you?

When you said "it's more CV than this piece of s***", that is just your opinion, remember that is not
a fact at all.  Only your perspective and taste about it.

And you called Alucard as something yaoi related.
That proves you have no respect for the popular Alucard design that carried this franchise and inspired the designs that came after him in this modern age.   As a fan you must acknowledge his popularity and Alucard is the most recognizable character and appearance in Castlevania to date.

And you ridicule recycled sprites when that is the foundation of how Castlevania grew and improved
itself over the years.    Graphics should be the least concern from a Castlevania fan.

The DS games recycled sprites from SOTN and each other and they still are some of the best and most fun games around.

A true fan would see the sprites as an art instead of simply dwelling on the recycled aspect of its use.

and you call me the worst of fans?  You can't even respect this Castlevania which stays much closer
to the classic Castlevania 2-D look and feel instead of what the 3-D games have been doing.

Let's not hate, okay?   That is the first step to understanding our opinion does not rule all
, and the same goes for everyone else.

Lords of Shadow and Castlevania Harmony of Despair will have its interested Castlevania fans and newcomers having fun and really enjoying what they offer, and there's nothing anyone believes that will change that.

Holy shit, 27 pages. I don't wanna read all of this, so maybe my gripe has already been mentioned:

Why XBLA only and not PSN as well? Does no one else think the 360 controller is horribly shitty for sidescrollers? That D-pad sucks so much. I'd much rather be playing this on the PS3.

Anyway, it looks to be more of the same "Metroidvania" stuff with recycled sprites, but at least it's for a console this time. Still, I'd rather have another effort like Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth.
Oh yeah, and also:
meat

Soda as well.
