I hope you are not saying that Neo-Contra sucks, because you will have lost all credibility then.

Neo Contra is pretty fun but I prefer Contra Shattered Soldier, or Super Contra.
I was mainly referring to the 3-D Contra games before Neo Contra being really bad.
But even Neo Contra can't substitute the 2-D retro gaming goodness of the 2-D Contras.

I love only 2D games in general. 3D does not appeal to me at all, with exception of Silent Hill. I wish Castlevania would always stay 2D. I hope IGA makes sure to keep 2D Castlevania alive. Long live IGA!

Yes IGA is very cool and open minded!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK8D7TBrckg

If people still don't understand how fun this game will be and the intentions the developers had for this game (nostalgia, many playable characters (including ones never available before on a console Castlevania game.), group co-op, versus, items, etc.), then they are missing the point and value of this upcoming masterpiece!   :)

It's also very cool that everyone gets the same item someone finds, this prevents bad blood between teammates if one races and hogs all the items, and allows players to play at their own pace instead of
competing with other players for the hidden items in the castle.   Everyone is on the same side, so everyone should benefit from the rewards equally.  :)

At the sametime, there is plenty of room for solo players to enjoy with the ghost time attack mode,
and greater challenges since they will be on their own.

And parties will finally be able to share a Castlevania together on a high quality online network with millions of Xbox Live users to meet. Parties will benefit the most fun out of this naturally.  :)

i think everyone gets a benefit when you use an item like a potion, but haven't seen anything to suggest picking up an item causes everyone to possess that item.

i think everyone gets a benefit when you use an item like a potion, but haven't seen anything to suggest picking up an item causes everyone to possess that item.

That's what I interpreted from the interview.   That would make treasure hunting more fair instead of forcing people to hunt for items in single player instead, because other people are racing to pick up equipment just for themselves.   Only one member getting the item would partially defeat the point of playing in groups if it only rewards the early bird.

Or you know, even if players don't automatically get the item someone picks up, at least there is another
theory, which is from what I seen where an item found remains on the map until all players pick it up.
That would be fair too.   That would encourage players to still go pick it up themselves, but at least
it will still be there for everyone to pick up (just like the ? Boxes in Lost Planet 2 and the power-ups
in Serious Sam Next Encounter co-op.)  That way people don't fight over who gets the drop, but everyone still have to make their own effort to go pick up the drop themselves.

Either way works
(a. one member item obtain = instant item obtained for everyone.

Or b.  item exists in castle until all pick up.)

Also I think items like potions have a limited range, a teammate might need to be nearby to receive the effects of the potion,  it would encourage players to stick together when necessary and not make party healing too easy.

ha, i'm not interested in what's fair.  it would be more fun to say "ha ha, i got it", even to your ally.  it also gives you a chance to give your team-mate goodwill by skipping it yourself and letting them have it, if that's what's best for the team effort.  it also increases the amount of strategizing you would have to do.  healing everyone with a potion is kind of sweet though.  maybe potions would heal everyone, since they're magical, but food would only heal the person who eats it?  good theory about a possible "range" of the heal effect.

Masterpiece? I don't know about that. It looks it could be a lot of fun for screwing around with-but nothing to take seriously. Affinity, I can appreciate your enthusiasm (I love IGA's games myself) but this game could hardly be called a masterpiece. If it was given a story and all new 2D sprites then I would think you were onto something. When I first saw this I think my reaction was similar to when I first saw MegaMan Soccer. I'm not saying this will bomb, I think it will be fun. But it's filler like Castlevania: Judgment.

Now, Rebirth was something to take seriously. Also, seriously asking not to be offending: Are you a rep for konomi or involved or something? You are really pushing this game, to the point it sounds like a sales pitch. I just find it hard to believe that someone can be so excited and wants everyone else to feel excited for a game that is not even out yet and most fans turned their noses at. Plus the fact you are female seems to help your cause. Don't take offense if I am mistaken but it does seem fishy. Just my opinion.

Now who would raise bloody hell if IGA said this was the 1999 game? Muahaha…

Notice, not all fans need a story or all new 2D sprites to label what could be the most fun game to date
as a masterpiece.  Remember the fun factor is what makes games greater and more valuable than
better graphics and some story that won't keep people coming back for more after the first time

(Final Fantasy XIII being one example as everything looking new and a big story, but falls flat in
replay value and entertainment value.)

I just find it hard to believe that someone can be so excited and wants everyone else to feel excited for a game that is not even out yet and most fans turned their noses at.

You don't need to work for some company to be hyped for something.  High anticipation is natural.

No one has played Metal Gear Rising yet, but millions are hyped for it and spreading the word.
No one has played Marvel vs. Capcom 3 yet, but millions are hyped for it.
No one has played FF Versus XIII yet but millions are hyped for it
No one has played Zelda Skyward Sword, but millions are hyped for it.
when FFVII was released on PSN, many were hyped for it.
SOTN when it was announced for PSN and XBLA, many were hyped and spread their anticipation for it.
And the biggest fans of the above shared and spread their hype with others, that doesn't mean
they are undercover employees.

And I don't get where you are seeing "most fans" when even message boards and polls can't accurately measure how many more fans are actually looking forward to this.  And you must also count the gamers that are not normally Castlevania fans, many of them will find this to be their favorite too!

oh and The Silverlord, I'm not sure how much extra money I'll have to spend months from now,
so don't count on any freebies, I already have some friends I'm buying this for.

Yes IGA is very cool and open minded!

If IGA was truly "open minded" then we would've seen a female Belmont protagonest a looooong time ago. Castlevania resurrection wouldv'e been that game unfortunately IGA pulled the plug on it. I have no doubt in my mind that Sonia Belmont was one of the reasons why IGA canceled the project and it all went belly-up. Problem is he did state in an interview that he doesn't like female protagonests. Shanoa was a first step in the right direction but he needs to try harder for the fan's sake. He needs to give them what they want and not what "he" wants (LoI Dracula story  >:(, no female Belmont protagonests >:(). Otherwise the woman heroin fanbases out there might rip him limb from limb.  :-X

I don't think IGA is sexist, or entirely sexist, because he is responsible for Portrait of Ruin, which had the main protagonist share their spot with a female protagonist.   And Order of Ecclesia, where he allowed
the artist to create a female protagonist as the lead character.   Also, in the Harmony of Despair interview, IGA said his favorite character to use in the game is Shanoa.

I agree there should be more female protagonists and Sonia deserves a spot in the IGA timeline (even if they design her as a Belmont that fights Dracula at a later point),
but at least lately he seems to give female characters a bigger role than say, Kojima,
who has yet to make a Metal Gear Solid-quality console game that is centered on a female protagonist.

Who knows?  Maybe what a person says in a past interview isn't really how they feel inside?  Maybe
deep inside, IGA likes female protagonists?
