At this point, I'm not sure they can present anything that's going to revive my lagging Castlevania fandom spirit. The inevitable Lords of Shadow sequel, which will, in all likelihood, contain all the same glaring faults of its predecessor, more Wii-ware thrown together at the last minute, more lackluster DLC for Shadows, . . .just writing these possibilities makes me depressed.
At best, they might release something new and original (and maybe, not likely but maybe, even 2D) for the 3DS, but at this point, I doubt I'd even buy that. I've always deeply resented Konami and Nintendo essentially making me buy a console I didn't want--the original DS--just to get my Castlevania fix for Sorrow, Ruin and Ecclesia, and if they do the same thing with a 3DS exclusive I don't think I'll bite that particular lure this time.
About the only thing I can think of that would turn my Vania frown upside down would be a new, original release for a home console that's either a very well designed and well-drawn 2D metroidvania, or finally a well-done 3D version that doesn't replicate the numerous and in some cases game-killing faults of the previous several attempts. Neither of these scenarios is even remotely likely.
