I got it for Christmas and, being a fan of the original Rayman, was really excited to play a new 2D sidescrolling Rayman. I never got into the other ones. This game is fun as hell. It plays a lot differently from the original game, but it really works, and I love the game's design and sense of humor, as well as the return of classic enemies that griefed me so much when I was younger. It also has lots of areas reminiscent of the original Rayman, like the desert where they have band instruments and similar platforms to Band Land in the original game(though it's far less punishing than Band Land). The game's easier than the first one for a while, but difficulty sets in after you get a few worlds in. You may not notice it as much though because of no life system (which adds to the game IMO). You can laugh about deaths, rather than cursing because you have to do two levels to get back where you were. And there's a lot to unlock, and multiplayer is a BLAST with friends. No online multiplayer, but that's fine, as I wouldn't play with strangers online anyway. It's most fun to play with your buddies in the room.
Anyway, more straight to the topic, I think it's a really fun game, especially for Rayman fans. Well worth the original price. I got the Wii version for Christmas, and my brother got the PS3 version, so I've played both. At this price? It's a bargain. Buy it now.
I wanted the Wii version because I personally only have a Wii and an Xbox 360, and want to utilize the d-pad when playing 2D games. Classic controller makes it more Playstation-like, which is the format I played (and still play, actually) the original Rayman on. Graphically, the HD thing is nice for the PS3 version, as there's less blur, and the game can be fast-paced at times. Wii version is fine too though, and it gets the job done for me.
