The (hypothetical) last Castlevania rerelease

Which Castlevania would you want rereleased more than any other, on any system? But JUST that one, knowing that the one you pick would be the last Castlevania to EVER be rereleased.
Which would you choose as the last hurrah of the games from your memory?

Mine would probably be (oddly) Circle of the Moon, as to me the game speaks to two different eras of the franchise: there's the gameplay, which speaks to the IGA era, and then there's the unforgiving difficulty for those who simply plow right through, which speaks to the classic era.

Add to that a killer name, a decent plot, a well rounded (if derivative) soundtrack, and you have yourself a CASTLEVANIA, my friends. Proper Castlevania, at it's finest.

Runner ups:

1. Aria of Sorrow
2. Super Castlevania IV
3. Castlevania 3

Yes, there's always the Virtual Console releases of SCIV and CV3, but I'd love to see them rereleased for Sony and Microsoft's fun boxes too. Possibly with an HD paint job.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

I do not want a rerelease of a cv sort of I want a revamp of a cv in this case I want legacy of darkness for the 3ds and this time with the experience of time of other 3d cv and most of all time to put everything in unlike the originals on the n64 heck cv"lod did not have everything thats was going to be put in it should have all of the characters, their abilities I remember Reinhardt if that's how you spell his name was going to pull a simon ala scvIV with the whip swing, cornel with hand to hand, carrie with super magic, chainsaw guy with shotgun, all stages, better graphics since OOT 3d looks leaps better than it's n64 counter part the chance for CV:LoD3DS seems so possible not only that but the gyroscope function could make a perfect camera in fps mode for it I just see a whole possible revamp that could be the very best in gaming history a dofferent port version that destroys the original in everysingle way.

What you want is a remake, and that's not what this thread is about. It's about rereleasing one Castlevania as-is, with POSSIBLY an HD remaster to make it look prettier, but no other work done on it. And that it would be the last Castlevania rerelease from now until trumpets sound, seals are opened, and blah blah blah.

I know I just wanted to state that but in all senses for a rerelease I want legends and belont's revenge for the 3ds virtual console yet would modifying cv:LoD really been seen as a remake even in the sense of having all content that would have been in the 64dd add on?

If it's a reimagining/remake, Simon's Quest. If it's a re-release with no gameplay changes, just better graphics, music, etc., Belmont's Revenge.

Any kind of HD remaster beyond a simple filter isn't really a re-release, it's a remake.
In response to the question though, I'm not terribly bothered by how astounding or not Castlevania’s last re-release is so I'm just going to say Bloodlines or Castlevania Legacy of Darkness because they haven’t been re-released yet and I'd really like them to be.

Aria. Aria all the way, with a graphical and sound upgrade.

I dont really want rereleases though. I want new games.

Bloodlines. The graphics are kinda bad, but the sound is ok. If they can improve the graphics I'm sure more people will like it. I think it deserves a re-release because the gameplay is pretty fun, especially while playing with Eric.

Bloodlines is "next" on the list.  Of course, I want ALL the games to be rereleased at some point.

CV3 HD Remix would be Konami's best thing in forever if they did the music right.  That is all.

bad? the Graphics were right on par with the SNES. Both were 16 bits. The music is the difference.

Almost. The Genesis doesn't have transparencies and the color palette isn't up to SNES standards. While it is a 16-bit system, it's an older system to boot and the SNES refined much of it's faults. I'm definitely with you in saying the sound chip is the real bugger in the whole thing, and it's something that could use a good makeover. I'm sure Michiru Yamane wouldn't mind in the least.

Probably Simon's Quest. I'd like to see how a modern take on that one would go.

At first I was going to say CVIII, but I don't know what a remake could possibly accomplish that the original didn't, outside of updated graphics or storyline. It was the perfect NES game for me, so a remake would be redundant.
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.
