Newsflash: I've finally beaten the DLC stages. Oi, takes a while, cause I only have access to my PS3 once every other weekend (plus plenty of times i just wasn't in the mood to do that right now). It is shameful though. I played Knight mode the entire time, but don't really like ultimate boss battles and just want to get them over with, so I played the last two sections as a squire. Even so, aiming the whip attack a particular part of a giant's body in 3D air-space is not a skill i have in abundance, so it dragged out a while. I still got my trophy though. Do you get a better trophy if you beat it on a better level? Wish they actually gave you something for it (playable Laura, Zobek). How about that Simon Belmont concept video? Maybe a Happy 25th Anniversary note. Well, they gave me a ton Experience Points for the trouble, so I was able to buy the Ultimate Light technique (yay, all skills obtained trophy). Didn't have enough to buy all of the artwork though. I had to do a victory lap through the game, wandering in from one stage to the next just to look at the decor and soak up the atmosphere and cut scenes, but then fleeing to the next stage once i encountered some resistance.
Are we past using spoilers for DLC yet (if i've beaten it, i'm sure everyone else has too now or watched it on youtube)? Anyways, about the end :
it didn't really tell you anything you didn't already know, which was too bad. Gabe breaking the combat cross into little pieces illustrated was the only notable thing. But I'm sure the next game will involve finding the 10 pieces of the Vampire Killer of legend (the people trying to do this probably didn't know it was called the Combat Cross) and put them back together again.
