I've started up a weekly podcast dedicated to Castlevania, since I noticed there wasn't one:

http://castlevania.podbean.com

New episodes are on Fridays. Episode 1 is up. The featured topic is the possible influence of "Vampire Hunter D" on Castlevania. There are two (at-this-point outdated) news items regarding Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate and Lords of Shadow 2. There's a weekly section where I look at Simon's role in a Captain N episode; in this case, it's the pilot, "Kevin in Videoland". I also give some recommendations in the Conclusion. This episode is on the long side (30 minutes), since there's a lot of set-up in the Introduction where I talk about myself, Castlevania, and the podcast.

There's a Facebook page for it as well:

http://www.facebook.com/CastlevaniaPodcast

As of today, the show is on iTunes as well:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/castlevania-podcast/id560540225

Downloading now. Let you know what I think later.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

Interesting podcast. Regarding Bram Stoker's Dracula, I don't know what the original intention of the developers was when Bloodlines came out, but the novel is not exactly part of the storyline. People often point to the offical timeline that contains a short blurb that mentioned Quincy Morris defeated Dracula or something, but it never actually mentions the novel anywhere. There are also some conflicts that make the novel and the games impossible to fit together. I think it's best to think they merely borrowed the Quincy Morris character and waved a Castlevania story around him. Also a little fun fact: the actual novel takes place in 1892 or 1893 while the event on the offical timeline takes place in 1897, which is the year in which the novel was first released.

Go back and re read the ending. It was quincy who stabbed ol drac in the heart before dying from his wounds.

For those of you that are wondering about episode 5, it is done, but I'm nearly at my monthly storage limit (I'd overlooked that). Since I signed up at Podbean on September 7, I likely can't upload the new episode until October 7 or 8. Sorry! :(
