Reminds me of the crazy NOD level in Command & Conquer 3 where your goal is to defend certain alien facilities from the GDI who try to destroy them. The buildings you're supposed to protect are located inside the alien base, and obviously the aliens are unaware of you defending them so they won't let you access their base.
The only choice you're left with is crushing the aliens and taking the buildings before the GDI arrive and destroy them.
