Its not even close to Megaman Zero,
The plot? sounds very similar. The idea that you play as X, and then you have to play as Zero to defeat an infinitely powerful X gone mad? That's the original concept plot for Mega man Zero. Zero vs. Mega Man X as the tyrannical ruler of N.A.

The only thing that resembles Megaman in this video IMO is the armor, even so they changed it drastically to worse.
It's not like Mega Men are strangers to different looks. X looks different to Classic Mega Man, (although granted they share a similar theme) Command Mission X looks QUITE different than X series X, and Rock Vollnut/Mega Man Trigger looks VERY different from either of them. They do however, share a theme of being blue.

Oh and let's not forget the Zero series X. Both Cyber X and Copy X look nothing like X series X. And X himself often changes appearance midgame with his Armor upgrades. So the sci fi look is not an issue for me, In fact, they kept a very basic recognizable X helmet. with the red gem, the "mohawk", the "ears", and the pointed helmet brow. The only thing they added to it, is an X shaped visor that forms over his face when he's in combat.

The Gun is also a strange hybrid of Arm cannon and Buster Shot, considering it is a gun, like the Zero series, BUT, it actually does form out of his own arm. He also carries the same default moves. He can dash, shoot normal shots, and shoot charge shots. (although they changed it to a machine gun for the regular shots, and missiles for the charged shot) According to the report, he can do all the things regular X could do.

Quote
Its like that Bomberman reimagining fiasco.
Not really. X series has already always tried to be darker and more mature than the Classic series. It's about a genocidal robot apocalypse army for God's sake. X4 even tried to be edgy by showing reploid blood. Then the Zero series took the darker setting of X, and cranked up to 11, with a full blown apocalyptic war, the killing of nearly half the world's population in both Humans and Reploids, the environment shot to shit, leaving only ONE sole surviving Civilized country, with the rest of the world being a wasteland, a genocidal copy of X who indiscriminately kills his own kind to solve an energy crisis, blood in-gameplay, (japanese version only) and the graphic representation of robot enemies being sliced in half.

Oh and more mass murder by Kraft when he shoots Neo Arcadia with a giant laser beam in an attempt to kill 1 person.

The franchise is no stranger to "dark and gritty". And we know little about what this game would have been like, other than the fact that it seems to keep most of the X series elements intact, (including movesets and basic story ideas) and interjects a little bit of Zero series into it by making a Zero vs. X climax.

Cox seems to want to do everything lately.

I guess he's being weened off of Castlevania after LoS2 or he's exploring his options if MS doesn't continue after it.

@Flame

Dont try to compare the another games with this, simply because they did them right and this one wrong, add this design to your sigbar and you will see that its the only one that seems off. The only way to this look good is if you put it together with bad boxart Megaman, in fact it resembles a lot Megaman from Megaman 10 cover. This armor reminds me of Conduit to say the truth.

I dont see any real platforming, dash (apart from that dash to grab enemies that I dont consider a real dash like in old games), wall climbing and charged shot in these videos. To me its like one of those jokes that we do here talking about "what if Cox touch this game or what if they make a movie about this game. things.

If they do a good story but the gameplay doesnt stay true to the series it simply fails at being a game and turns into a interactive movie.

Sorry, but its one if not my favorite series of games and I've disliked what this videos showed to me. Even when I played Legends first time I felt it as a Megaman game, but this one is another story.

Im not trying to shove my opinion in anyone, but that is my opinion and Im sharing it here.

So Cox wants a shot at the Zelda franchise now?
Oh, boy, please stop. IMO, make your own game instead and stop messing around with established franchises.

MOF was a disappointment, but I think that was because they tried to make it too much like SOTN to cater to disgruntled fans of LOS.
Getting real tired of your bullshit son.

Are you guys really discussing about an ALREADY cancelled shitty megaman reboot? Wow guys...

The fact that said cancelled Mega Man game even made it past the drawing board is reason enough to not let a series get re-imagined. And I'm with Lelygax here, all this recent flat-lining the platform genre is getting sickening. Personally, I think a franchise isn't about the stories in the games, it's about the games themselves. The Castlevania and Mega Man franchises are platforming series. Contra as an FPS, sure maybe why the hell not? Did they ever make a Sonic FPS yet? I guess that's Shadow. Huh, there's an idea!

Getting real tired of your bullshit son.

Just speaking my mind. Get used to it kid. I think it's pretty clear that MOF attempted to put some SOTN into the LOS mix. It's fairly unanimous that MOF was off beat. I think it's fair to say that Mercury Steam was trying to play to another developer's strength in that game and not their own. I think that's why the game fell flat.

No need to be rude Maedhros. Sorry, I wasn't aware that I had to agree with you in order to make posts on this forum.

Did they ever make a Sonic FPS yet?

Yes, fans did a FPS Sonic, I played it a long time ago, they really did it right.

Sonic Robo Blast 2 - part 1

They even have a battle mode with multiplayer. FPS camera is optional, but its based on Doom engine so I think you get the picture of how it plays. It reminds me of an very old CV fangame that they did a remake in 3D.

Also thats how you make a Megaman FPS right:

I'd pass. He'd probably dismiss the series as having a boyish depiction of high fantasy, and try to give it a darker edge this time around. :p

Was that not suppose to be what twilight princess was trying to do?

I'd support this maybe more than Cox working on Contra or Metroid. Way waaaay more than Contra.

A MercurySteam game under a very strict Nintendo watch could end up pretty interesting.

The plot? sounds very similar. The idea that you play as X, and then you have to play as Zero to defeat an infinitely powerful X gone mad? That's the original concept plot for Mega man Zero. Zero vs. Mega Man X as the tyrannical ruler of N.A.

N.A.... North America?

OH SHIT SON

...Seriously, I'm kinda bummed they didn't work on that one more. I wanted to see the awful, awful things they were thinking of doing to the plot. And the mechanics sounded interesting too.

Yeah, I can't imagine Nintendo giving MercurySteam too much freedom

... Why do so many people act like just because it has a more realistic art style (and the art style itself is not very realistic anyway but whatever) that it was some sort of snub to the rest of the series?  Tons of wonky Zelda-esque characters and things were in TP, and the story was just as cheesy and melodramatic as WW.  Or are you going to try and argue that the yetis were even remotely in place in a 'dark fantasy'? Pft.

OoT was dark.  MM was dark. Heck, WW is darker than TP when you take ten seconds to actually think about it. So it comes down to art style, and imo?  OoT/MM (mostly MM) are STILL "darker" than TP in that respect.
