What hypothecal elements added to Castlevania would make you lose interest in it? Try to be realistic. Don't say: "if they make a racing game", or something like that.

A tough question. I love CV too much to permanently drop it for even the most outlandish element. If a game has an element I don't like (kiddie art ala DOS/POR, a more cinematic dark fantasy feel ala LOS), I'll always give it the benefit of the doubt. And if I don't agree with it, I'll simply look forward to the next installment.

That said, I think I'll drop CV if Konami ceased production of all console/handheld games and turned the franchise into... some social thing geared to casual audiences like Minecraft or The Sims

A few years ago I would've said that a combo battle system was a dealbreaker for me. And in a way LoS completely took Castlevania away from me because of this. Then again, I am willing to accept change and I will definitely check out LoS2. But Castlevania just isn't the same anymore, and I blame combos for it. I have no problem with the new storyline, or anything else for that matter, but the combat is just so generic and dull. Every other modern action game does the same thing. I know the combat in the 2D games are incredibly basic, but that's my idea of fun, I guess. I'm too old.

The music was always important to me, which is kinda weird when I think about it. Why should music make or break a game? It doesn't make sense. But in Castlevania I was always absolutely OBSESSED with the music. That ended with LoS and MoF. Again, I'm willing to accept that things can't stay the same forever, but if there's one thing that was NEVER broken in Castlevania, it was the music. And yet they decided to "fix" it. The new music may not be a dealbreaker, but it's one of those little details that made me fall out of love with the series.

If they were to recycle and recycle again sprites and stuff like they did on GBA/DS, I would have stopped.

Actually, one of my favorite things about the GBA games is that they actually DIDN'T reuse sprites. Sure some sprites were "inspired" by past sprites, but that's nothing new starting with CV2. The sprites themselves were new and fit the games they were meant for.

I completely agree with your statement though, in regards to the DS games.

A game that was fully and FPS game using machine guns to kill the monsters and you are some random soldier. That would ruin the series. CV is not meant to be an FPS game and machine guns have no place in CV (besides, the few guns we have seen the series do minimal damage compared to melee weapons and magic).

Another thing that would be a deal breaker for me is if all the combat in a game were QTEs. Considering how much we all hate QTEs, a game whose combat was based completely on QTEs would kill the series.

First person perspective, and I'll run far, far, far away from any game that still uses Rondo sprites.

Everything comes full circle

Combat combos out the wazoo, QTEs, music that doesn't fit the game or isn't properly implemented, and I definitely don't want to see the CV series become a FPS. All these would be a severe deal breaker.

More RPG elements. Not a fan. If CV went turn based I would be tempted to dump it.

SkyrimVania.... i can die happy..

Much more rpg, and a true Open World in the land of Castlevania.... much better than skyrim.. in art and history.

I never considered what is a dealbreaker for me...

I'm pretty open. but something stupid LIKE a racing game or whatnot WOULD be a deal breaker

CVHD was a deal breaker, but for various reasons... mainly though the blatant copypaste of previous metroidvania stage assets to make new castles. That really pissed me off.

Also that stupid "it's a magic book with dracula and belmonts" crap.

CVHD is really a dealbreaker as a whole to me. I can't pick one or two things I dislike, because I dislike MANY things about it.

even Judgement I can't really hate. It was at least trying to be original, and I give it credit for that. it just wasn't for me.

What may be a dealbreaker, like Flame said, is the pseudo-justification of what is happening. C'mon, HD is just a multi-player fan service game, no need for magic book crap.

doesnt mean i like it. I know why it is the way it is. I still feel it could have had more effort.

That said, i get that it was basically a low budget experiment to see how people reacted to a metroidvania multiplayer.

Even if it was a hentai game where you had to seduce all the womenfolk of the CV universe in creative and unprecedented ways, and/or Simon Belmont?

Actually I think that would motivate even more people on here to stick with the series.
