Completely wrong.
Castlevania and Castlevania III are top ten for sure.
And no CV 2? Why in the world no CV 2?

It boggles my mind that the primitive arcade game Mario Bros. beat out so many other classic games on the NES. When I say primitive well, hell there were even a versions of it on the 2600 & 7800. But it's like the ancients said, there's no accounting for taste. Or nostalgia in this case. There are a few other surprises (The Goonies beat out Castlevania 3, Metroid and Megaman 1&2? Really?) but that was what caught my attention the most.

No Tiny Toon. No Gargoyle's Quest. No Batman Return of the Joker. No Gremlins 2. No Addams Family. No Kick Master.
Mario 1 better than Mario 3?
And why, with so many jewels on the NES, games like Excite Bike and Balloon Fight are there?
I STRONGLY disagree with this list.

I doubt they know the Addams family over there and I'd be surprised
If Tiny Toons and Batman were that popular (I'd be surprised if they didn't know Batman though.) But by and large I agree.

What did we learn here tonight my fine friends? We learned that whenit comes to NES games, the Japanesers have NO TASTE! xD

Historically Castlevania has always done better in NA and EU than Jp so I'm not surprised by this ranking at all really.  :P

So most japanese players didn't play Addams Family, Tiny Toon, Batman, Gargoyle's Quest and Kick Master?
Even now that they are available everywhere via emulation?
I know they are RPG fanatics, and that's OK, but they can't miss some great games like the ones I mentioned. At least part of them.
There's plenty of more great, complex games for the NES to be filling the ranking with simple and primitive games like Excite Bike and Balloon Fight.
I... don't get it. I just don't get it.

I know that's why I'm surprised that cv got that ranking it's very high in a country that's very RPG CENTRIC.

Emulation yuck  :-X  But I think that games like  Fire emblem, FF 2-3, gestu fuma, legend of valkyrie, and even mother is that some games are exclusive at least that's what I think maybe I'm wrong. battletoads is on the famicom even and that's not on there and it's much more easy if I gathered correctly from Arino playing it on Gamecenter cx

Maybe that's why ther are in the situation they are in now. Ohh nut shot right there XD.

But still seeing as how castlevania so high is the shocker I think I never even thought japan would roll that way with the series and being so RPG focused would not Simon's Quest be high on the list then?

Emulation yuck  :-X

You know that this Virtual Console and almost all old games available to buy in these PSN run via emulation right? You can even "inject" a different ROM inside a Virtual Console file for Wii.

I kind of forget that but my beef is more with the computer emulation like zsnes(I have tales of phantasia and earthbound) but still I hate it  . I do not do this unless if I really cannot afford it. It's not my preference to play games like this especially on computer.

The Japanese sure like their Dragon Quest.

It's been said in the past that Japanese gamers were mostly into RPGs whereas Americans preferred action games. I think that's the reasoning for some action games being "toughened up" for their US releases like Contra: Hard Corps—one-hit death instead of the original three health points.
Oh yeah, and also:

I understand that. But for some people emulation is the only way to play some games they would miss otherwise.
Like with japanese games.

The Japanese sure like their Dragon Quest.

They have prohibited it from launching outside end of weeks, because people started skipping their job only to play this game in the launch day at their homes. So yeah, they love it lol

I'm also looking at the other titles and I believe the BGMs have something to do with it.
