Phoenix Wright -- Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies

We're in the midst of all this heated 3DS/Vita discussion -- and yet we've missed the most important part of it all. This game is being released on Nintendo's handheld:

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies - Trailer (Nintendo 3DS)

So, you see, the 3DS wins hands down.

Back to business, though -- I'm surprised that a similar thread hadn't already made its way into the forums. It's the first main Ace Attorney entry in nearly five years, and the first time Phoenix returns to the stand since the GBA originals. To say the least, Capcom had left us ample time to salivate.
The game's demo is already out, and it features the first case in its entirety. If you haven't done so yet, it can be downloaded in the Nintendo eShop.

I'm not sure if I'm entirely hooked by the new, fully animated cutscenes, but the graphically renovated environments are a sight to behold, especially in a series that's been rather miserly in that regard. As for the music, five seconds of one of those iconic tunes is enough to get the alarms going...

Why won't it be released in cartridge form? (I know their reasoning behind this) but... I want my cartridges.  :'(

I still haven't even beaten the first DS game (finished the main game, but I got stuck in the bonus trial years back) so it'll be a long while before I get around to this one. Hopefully by the time I do, Capcom will wise up and release a game card of it.

What a great series.
I recall a while back my (now ex) girlfriend wanted me to try out Trauma Center: Under the Knife.
And I was like "Nah I don't wanna be a Doctor... I wanna be a Lawyer! TAKE THAT!"

Good times... good times...

We'll have to wait for the 2014 release of a game that came out in Japan in late 2012. You'd think it wouldn't take that much time to localize a game...
But I'm not complaining. Investigations 2 was never released in the US. At least this one is dated.

Speaking of trials, has anyone else seen Takashi Miike's Ace Attorney film adaptation? I was shouting in joy a few months ago, when I'd finally found a youtube version of the film that had sound enabled.
It was a titanic piece of fan service, but I'm not sure if it can be appreciated from a more objective point of view.

I've seen the live-action Gyakuten Saiban movie, if that's what you're talking about.
I have the mkv of it with subtitles. :D

It came out on July 25, 2013, I'd call that speed fast enough for a game with a niche audience. I had to suffer a longer translation waiting time for rune factory 4, but then again, that is an RPG.
As for Investigations 2, I'm still seething...

OMG! I totally forgot about that movie!  :) I'll just watch it on youtube.

Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney hasn't been localized yet. It's been announced for 2014, but it hasn't yet been released outside of Japan.

And I wouldn't limit Ace Attorney to a 'niche audience'. It has reasonable levels of popularity in the US alone, and it's something of a phenomenon in Japan. Of course, it's a very idiosyncratic series, and in an arguably niche genre -- so it certainly can't appeal to everyone. But it's done surprisingly well for what it is.

I've finished 1, 2 and 3 on my Wii, then I jumped to Umineko.

I've seen this a week ago, from this very same video source. This movie isnt that good but is better than nothing, it seems to be fault of the director, scriptwriter or actors, they even extended it to 2:30 instead of 2:00 or 1:30 like some standard movies, so they really tried to do something good (and even so they left out this fat guy that was important for the plot, also that granny was hilarious and was cut too).

I was really disappointed because they left out Von Karma scream, I was really expecting for that since Edgeworth mentioned that he would never forget this scream, like in the game. Why mention something that they wouldnt show?

Even so its entertaining and is good enough to be replayed after some months/years.

Layton and Wright might have copyright issues or any other legal issues preventing its release.
Yes, for it's genre it has done really well.
Ahahahah I already knew that youtube movie yesterday. I just didn't post the entire thing.

Von Karma did scream in the movie when he was shot, it was off camera though.
I admire the actor for Wright. His face is so funny.
