And I don't remember anything past the Berkeley Mansion. Sooooooo anyone wanna give me some tips, or perhaps a heads-up, on some things I should keep an eye out for? (God damn eyes floating around, they have some of the most annoying movement patterns I've seen in a game)

Also, hey, I'm back again. Forgot my password so I haven't logged in in a while. Haven't been up to much. Finished writing a script for an RPG, really long script too. Yeah. Hey, ya'll. Excited for LoS2, yeah. :P

...........kneel at the lake on the bottom route going right, with a blue crystal to reach the 2nd mansion.

...........kneel at the dead end cliff with a red crystal to continue the game and reach the last 2 mansions.

.............. equip the heart at the ferryman to reach the 3rd mansion.

3 endings; you can level up by collecting enough hearts.

Don't bother leveling up Simon if you want to get the best ending. It takes up too much time and the endings are dependent on the clock. Another tip would be to forgo getting the thorn whip and just go for the chain whip instead, but I guess you are past that part.

PS. Welcome back Claimh Solais  :)

You can also use the red crystal to access the 2nd mansion as well. I tried it and it works.

Yeah, I'm already well past the point of no return when it comes to getting the best ending. Already took up three days, and the best ending is for beating the game in a week, wasn't it?

I already grinded for the Thorn Whip, White Crystal, and the Holy Water. I'm in the second town, whatever it is. There's a church there, so it's not that unlucky one that happened to not have one.

AFTER CASTLEANIA I WARNED YOU NOT TO RETURN

Not gonna lie, I laughed hard when I read this.

Also, thanks for the welcome backs, everyone :D

EDIT: Since I'm not really trying for any ending, I'm just gonna grind a lot. How much experience do I need before I hit LV2?

While I agree with his tip about NOT getting the thorn whip, he is wrong about the leveling up part. In mansions time stops, and you can very easily level up in most of them, especially when gargoyles are present. I have easily gotten all items in the game, max level and the best ending.

Right, forgot about that. Thank for the reminder. Yes, go ahead and level up in a mansion especially when it has those gargoyles. They give you the biggest hearts and therefore, the biggest EXP points.

If your not used to playing through Simon's quest then it can take you a fair bit of time. The first time I finished it was using a password that was a game glitch ie it gave me everything up-front. Then I tried it without passwords and I was stuck for some time until the Nintendo Game Atlas fell onto my lap. I know the game inside-out so I can beat it in less then an hour & a half.

I'm really trying to enjoy the game moreso than speed through it for the best ending, since the endings in the game are pretty boring anyway. So basically all I'm doing is collecting everything, leveling up to max level (which I think is 4, right?), etc. For some reason, I find it pretty fun as an RPG, but this game is painful to play when I just played Dracula's Curse right before it (the undisputed best game on the NES, imho).

Yeah, I think Castlevania on the NES kind of mirrors the NES Mario trilogy that way. The first one is the most iconic, the second one (both USA and TLL in Mario's case) is influential but the majority of people don't really like it, then the 3rd entry is everything the first one was only with even more content, options, and challenging but tight gameplay. Kind of true for Zelda1/LA/ALttP to, now that I think about it. Though of course ALttP was SNES, and the only other Zelda sidescrollers after LA were the CD-i ones.
