Here is a video I just watched with some of the history behind the castles and enemies of the serious. A lot of it is stuff I'm sure we know but I thought I'd share.

Here's one I discovered myself recently:

"Bodley Mansion" from CV2 is a mangled translation of the original Japanese name (バークレイ). It has been speculated it's a mistranslation of "Bathory Mansion", but that's not true. A more accurate translation would be "Berkley Mansion", which is most likely a reference to "50 Berkley Square", which is said to be the "most haunted house in England".

MARKIPLIER

The fact that you typed Markiplier in all caps makes me wonder if that's a good thing or bad?

I actually did learn something new. I always wondered where Balore came from.

the in depth of Bitterfly was neat too.

I did not know that Dracula X featured Bran Castle on the cover, I know Bloodlines features it in the Munitions Factory stage
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

I knew about Balore, though I've always been a kinda mythology buff.

The Chon Chons(Bitterflies) are also featured in other games like Culdcept and Shin Megami Tensei:

Neat stuff, didn't know some of these. Thanks for posting :)

PS- "The Bodley Mansion" thing reminds me of the changes they made to the Clue/Cluedo board game when they released it in America. Originally the person who's been killed was called "Dr. Black" (in keeping with the color-theme of the rest of the character names) but in the USA was changed to "Mr. Boddy" as a terrible pun. Just as an aside- along with that character name change and the name of the game itself ("Cluedo" as a pun on "Ludo" wouldn't make sense in America where Ludo is called Parcheesi.) Reverend Green was changed to "Mr. Green" in America because a member of the clergy committing murder was thought to be too extreme for American players.

Actually, that's not the original Japanese for Bodley Mansion, it's this: "バドリーの館 Badorī no yakata". Bodley is most certainly a corruption of Bathory.
This is Berkeley Mansion: "バークレイの館 Bākurei no yakata".
"Stuff and things."

Hmm, seems I accidently mixed up two of the mansions. バドリー translates to Baddeley. Bathory in Japanese is either " バートリ" or "バートリー".

edit: To clarify, I know it says "Badorī", but katakana is phonetic, and sometimes you have weird situtations where the pronunciation can differ from what you think it actually should be. バドリー appears to be how the name Baddeley is written in katakana, so I chose that as the translation.

Actually that's not Bran Castle.

That's Katz Castle, actually.
Katz Castle (German: Burg Katz) is a castle above the German town of St. Goarshausen in Rhineland-Palatinate. You can see in the comparison shot how very close the Konami people got it to the original.  It looks like The Munitions Factory is across the river from the Castle, so it's somewhere in the Rhine Valley.

I'm rather ashamed to admit that I didn't realize this until watching "The Strain" on FX, but apparently "Storigoi Graveyard" from CV2 is derived from the term Strigoi, which is the vampire equivalent in Romanian mythology.
