Legends - 1450 or 1400?

I was just browsing through some CV files that I'd downloaded, and I came across the timeline in the (Japanese) article in Dengeki N64 199 volume 2. It says 1400 next to the screenshot of Sonia from the beginning of the game.

Likewise, in the timeline on page 70 of Konami Gaming Magazine volume 3, there's a 1400 entry right before the 1476 entry (the latter of which is obviously CV3). Does the 1400 entry in this timeline refer to the events of Legends?

I had always heard 1450 mentioned for Legends (though I can't remember where I first heard that). If it's 1400, then Sonia's child couldn't possibly be Ralph/Trevor.

Was 1450 mentioned in any Japanese publication of the time?

Which is correct?

It is written to the "Konami Magazine Volume 3, Jul 1997" and "Dengeki N64 1999 vol 2" in this way. "1400 nen zengo (Around 1400)". This is indistinct.
From "Konami Magazine Volume 4, Sep 1997" and "KCE Kobe homepage, July 31, 2000". Legends is 1450.

1450 are right.

This makes me wonder if Legends' year wasn't nailed down until 2000.

There is another date for Legends but I saw it on the dungeon timeline which was put together from the Konami timeline I think. The date for Legends was 1472. This would put Sonia 20 years before the events of CV III (enough time for Trevor to reach adulthood and fight Dracula). And the date is ten years after Vlad becomes Dracula in the Bram Stoker movie (1462). This is of course putting aside IGA's chain of events and strictly focusing on the classic timeline.

Definitely not 1400.  So 1450 or possibly the 1472 just mentioned.  I think CvIII was originally supposed to be 1491 but was later nailed down to 1476.  And Curse of Darkness is specifically stated as 3 years later and 1479.

In SotN/NitM set in 1797, Alucard is stated in the Japanese manual to be about 400 years old making his birth about 1397, and Dracula 800 making his birth about 997.

Looks like 1450 is the only one that avoids conflicts.

Oooo, very close! 1492 actually  ;)  The same year Columbus sailed for the new world.

Legends always struck me as the perfect place to reboot the franchise successfully. Since it's not canon, I think it can be done.

Hell, they could even string all the prominent non-canon games together in this reboot. Have Legends and Circle of the Moon happen in the same timeline, and fill-in the gaps. These two games are simply too good to be not canon.

I thought CV3 was always set in 1476 to correspond with the "death" or the real Vlad III. It would make sense faux-historically, as in CV, it's his first "death" that triggers his cycle(or lack of) of resurrection.

Odd thing about someone bringing up 1472 as a possible date for Legends, would that make Sonia Trevor's OLDER sister then? If we can ignore the "first death" detail, big sis Sonia went off to fight Dracula, and four years later, little brother Trevor would do the same(perhaps because Sonia was raising her child).

Again, I'm not one for Legends, but I've ALWAYS made it known that I'd love to see a sibling dynamic in the CV series. Seeing something like a sister and brother having roles in vanquishing Dracula would be awesome.

The Castlevania series could definitely stand to have some female Belmonts leading the way in a few entries.  Either way, I would also like to see a more unified timeline.  It's not like most of these games require the specific dates that have been attributed to them in the past.  It's always castles and countryside.  Aside from the motorcycles summoned "by Dracula's power" in Castlevania 64, the majority of these things could all be rearranged to fit more neatly together.
Braun is perhaps the world's leading expert in laser weaponry, and his presence in the Kavango means that the Soviet bloc is planning some sort of laser mission.

And to think Matthias gained immortality at the young age of 97!

Well, "estimated", but still, its kinda silly nonetheless. I think IGA felt obligated to stick somewhat close to that "rule" that was made up by someone entirely different. I think prior to that, Dracula WAS basically Vlad III(or at least there wasn't any reason to not believe he was one in the same). Oddly enough, LoS sticks with the "guy who becomes Dracula lived around the the late 1000s". Couldn't they have chosen a different time period instead of following IGA's "set it around the Crusades" bit.

If Trevor was Alucard's offspring originally, then wouldn't he have lived significantly longer than a normal human. This is assuming that since Alucard was the offspring of Dracula and a human, he inherited Vampiric traits, so too should Trevor inherit some trace of them. (aside from superhuman strength)
