It only has a couple of tidbits, but there's some interesting stuff. Apperently, the game was really known as "The Bloodletting" at some point. Oddly, it says the game is for PS1 and Sega Saturn instead of the 32X. I wonder if those generic looking skull and bat are stock artwork or original. Also note from the Dracula X section: "conversion of the massive Japanese hit" and the series "selling over 4 million units".

"The Bloodletting" is the one different from a cancelled 32X game by my expectation. Cancelled 32X game had pixel art, not softimage rendered 3D characters.
I'm on hiatus now.

The 32X game was cancelled in 1994, wasn't it? I remember IGA saying so in one of the interviews when he left Konami. If so, the information would be outdated. Perhaps "The Bloodletting" was the original title given by Konami USA to SotN when it was still very early in development. The game did end up releasing for PS1 and Sega Saturn. While it's true the game isn't 3D, it does have a couple of enemies with ugly 3D effects. I could totally imagine them using that as a big selling point in those days.

Sorry to ruin the fun, but that is clearly an early advertisement for SOTN. "Magic demons and new items" is pretty much the defenition of SOTN. :P

Wonder what's on the 3D eyetrick poster? :p

Pretty cool find. I can only surmise that this brochure refers to SOTN but that it may have been considered the evolution of the 32X game, suggesting assets from that were used in SOTN.
This is the first I've heard of The Bloodletting being an official subtitle.

Perhaps The Bloodletting never had anything to do with the 32X game and it was nothing more than an early title for SOTN

The confusion continues.

I'm willing to bet this is what happend. Someone must have seen that brochure years ago, and after those sprites from the 32X game appeared on the KCEK website, someone incorrectly assumed the The Bloodletting must have been the name of that cancelled game, and this found its way to the internet. Afterwards, nobody knew the origin of the name and it got assumed it was just a fan invention. Fascinating stuff.

It's just the old Konami logo, just like you'd see when you boot up Super CV4 or Rondo.

THOSE WERE THE FINEST 3D EFFECTS OF 1997, YOU SCURVY CUR. Also excellent find. So, at least in 'murica, Bloodletting was an actual title...or at least a placeholder one.

But did it ship 4 million copies?

Me too. If Konami is thinking again in a "reboot", that logo must return. With the movie-like frames in the title screen or in the intro :).

Dunno. I've never attributed the logo as anything but a nifty graphic. First time I ever saw it was when playing Contra.
