Which is your favorite soundtrack to just sit and listen to?

The Castlevania series has a lot of good soundtracks that fit their respective games nicely, but not all well fitted soundtracks are good to listen to on their own.

I generally prefer to listen to my top three, which is, in no particular order, Symphony of the Night, Lament of Innocence, and Curse of Darkness. Yamane was riding at her highest during this period, and as awesome as they are in-game, they really sing when standing on their own.

Curse of Darkness in particular has a few tracks that, when divorced for the trudgy feel of the game, can really be enjoyed to their fullest, which is where I gush about the unpraised genius that went into the track "Baljhet Mountains" and "Eneomaos Machine Tower", which accompany very boring stages but the music simply rocks.

Other times I jam to the Castlevania Chronicles soundtrack, which is... interesting. At least compared to a little something called EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE SERIES.

I stay the hell away from the Rondo of Blood soundtrack though-- they way I see it, it may be good background music for the game, but not really for anything else.

How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

Definitely CVC Arrange, SOTN, LOI and COD are really good soundtracks on their own. A few tracks from Rondo/ VK and OOE but otherwise I can't say I would sit there listening to other CV soundtracks.

If I really wanted to listen to a CV soundtrack, SOTN is the one I go to most often.

I basically open up the player and let every soundtrack in the series play on random.

But I'll say everytime a chiptune comes along, I start humming together. So... Classicvanias, maybe?

Super Castlevania 4.

For me this is the best by a long shot.

I listen to SOTN the most though. Mainly because it's on iTunes. It's great too of course.

I'd say Super Castlevania 4. The others are great too but I've never sat through them all in one sitting as I had with SCV4. It was just the right time in gaming history with that title. I even went so far as to record the entire sound track on cassette tape from my TV back in the day, lol. That's how good it was for me  :D

I'm going to be contraversial here.  As background music, I'd say that I listen to the soundtracks for LoS1 and LoS2 the most as chillout music.  I also love things such as the soundtracks for LotR, so the musics from LoS really appeals to my tastes.  I also really love the osts for SotN and Pachislt III (even though it's not a proper Castlevania game, it's got an excellent soundtrack).  I tend to set my music player to random and see what comes up.  I also have some really good fan covers/arrangements, in either rock/metal or orchestral arrangements, which I listen to a lot as well.

I love having the Perfect Selection Dracula New Classic for background music while I browse or do things around the house. SotN has some excellent tracks and I'll listen to the extended HD version of Crystal Teardrops quite a bit.

I am between Portrait of Ruin and Curse of Darkness, and I love to hear some of its tracks while I am cleaning the house or cooking :P.

I love to hear The Gears go Awry, Victorian Fear and The Hidden Curse from PoR; Abbandoned Castle, Baljhet Mountains, Garibaldi Temple, Cordova Town and Eneomaus Machine Tower. Toccata into Blood Soaked Darkness is my favorite Dracula's Fight theme.

Also, is great music to hear at work :).

Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness, I suppose.  Though, I usually listen to one of my fan remix playlists because they have a nice variety from the whole series.

I literally listen to this playlist on repeat almost the entire time Im home 7 days a week. I usually listen to it all the time til my gf gets home from work then play more normal music from google music or more movie type scores cause shes not a huge videogame fan so shes not as connected to the music as I am. But yeah...

Probably the Japanese CVIII. Good variety of tracks, my favorite boss theme of the series (Big Battle), and some others that I really like. Definitely not the strongest soundtrack, but my favorite nonetheless.

CV4 I love! I like really emotional and atmospheric stuff so it's right up my alley. I also love CoD, especially Belajet(Ik I spelt it wrong XD) mountains. I LOVE the original X68000 versions of the CVC ost. CVC Arranged is great, but it sounds like it's trying too hard to be epic when I listen to it without the game running, something I don't feel with the original.

This might sound weird, but I listen to Legends ost a lot, more than even belmonts revenge. I know it's far far far from being the best, but I LOVE those bloody tears and vampire killer remixes. Love the dungeon music too, but I absolutely dig the ending song(when the castle crumbles, not the hidden ending). It gives off a feel of successful triumph, but the world is still a place of violence and bad people, but justice can prevail, which makes sense how Drac says he'll be back again. Idk, just love it

It varies a lot sometimes I even listen Harmony of Dissonance soundtrack. I like Nocturne from SotN, almost all Bloody Tears, a lot of PoR like Jail of Jewels for example, a lot of ending music from ClassicVanias, etc. For the old games I tend to listen remixed versions, fan-made or official. Now a song that I really like to listen is named "Castlevania", made by Geoffrey Gunn, I think that you can find it on a old thread that I made to serve as a compilation of all CV Albums.
