No years as far as I know and from what I read on the wikia.
He does get separated and is found at Mideel suffering from Mako poisoning and Tifa stays behind to take care of him. But I don't think more than a couple of weeks go by max.

Maybe I'm thinking of Crisis Core taking place approximately 7 years before.
Or maybe there was a flash back during FFVII that was some number of years before.

The FFVII universe uses an odd year-numbering system with four numerical places, so I'll be using that for the following.

Cloud is fifteen when Crisis Core starts (0001), and the Nibelheim incident happens a little over a year later (0002). He and Zack are kept by Hojo for four years before they escape (0006). They remain on the run for a year before Zack is killed outside Midgar (0007). Cloud, now 21, goes straight to Midgar after this. Tifa finds him delirious at the train station, and his false memories become coherent upon seeing her and he "becomes" who he is at the start of FFVII. She persuades him to join AVALANCHE, but is really only doing so to keep an eye on him, as she'd noticed he was acting strangely.

AC takes place two years after the original game (0009), putting Cloud at 23.

It is a bit tough to figure out Cloud's age and the relevant information, given his conflicting backstories. Hopefully, though, this clears things up.

This is the part I was thinking of. Obviously not 7 years prior to FFVII. Cheers for that.

And people wonder why he isn't Barret's build. He's still relatively young in FFVII.

First thing in mind after watching the trailer.
"Oh, Kingdom Hearts refurbished as FF7.... Where the hell is KH3!?!"
I'm still looking forward for XV than 7 since the 7's story won't be changed, and we all know what happens.

I disagree in part. If you watch the FFVII anime and play Crisis Core, not all the events of Nibelheim and such match up perfectly.
I am almost certain there will be some kind of option to incorporate a playable Aerith and I believe certain events/ their sequence will be altered to suit the style of gameplay and the game's flow.
Will the overarcing canon be changed? No you're correct in that sense.

More details on the remake. And yes, they're literally going with "Final Fantasy VII Remake".
It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.

Also, apparently the game may be episodic.

I woudn't worry about this too much. They did the same thing with RE: Revelations 2, but later on, released the entire game on disc.

Yeah. I said the same thing to my best friend. Only I'm the one blasphemous bastard that never liked or got into Kingdom Hearts.
Also, I find the cast of XV to be so atrociously bland that I don't think there will be an way for me to enjoy the game. Plus once again the game play is so far removed from the Final Fantasy I grew up with that it kills my interest.
Yes, I'm that curmudgeon that sees the Final Fantasy series as having ended with 4 Warriors and continued on as Bravely Default.
The rest of the series, to me, are spin-offs masquerading as the main series.

You're not the only one, I could never really get into KH either. It's got some interesting concepts and some great music, but the only one I really played was the GBA one and none of the rest interested me.

Plus, dear god the amount of teen/preteen angst is just too much for me.

Well, yeah. Barret's got 13 years and a shitload more combat experience on him. Cloud never really did any serious fighting until the game started.

But the Mako-injection thing is still the primary reason. It's suggested that SOLDIERs don't age normally because of the Jenova cells within their bodies; since Cloud got his as such a young age, that was the physical age his body retained.

I was talking about the overaching canon. And yes, some events don't match up but the same can be said for history. haha.
Nooo.. Let Aerith die. It's better that way.

Yup. Not everyone likes KH. I liked KH but the plot baggage just gets bigger with each installment that it becomes hard to remember everything. Still, I liked the keyblade designs. As for XV, I'm just intrigued by the plot.

I heard that the guys in charge of this did an interview with Famitsu.
The one thing that gives me a glimmer of hope is that they said that the battle system is a lot less action oriented than people think and that it is very much still an ATB system.
Can anyone verify?

If this is the case it sounds a little bit more like Star Ocean or even Xenoblade Chronicles. And that wouldn't be so bad.

Y'know, despite my skepticism for the time being, I have to say that this has really invigorated my love and nostalgia for the game. I'd very nearly broken my annual-playthrough tradition, and would have if not for the timing of the remake's announcement.
