The Sailor Moon series first appeared in the 90's as well. We got it in 94 I believe, but in Japan it was released in 92.

Funny that you mention Sailor Moon.... I've just started watching that for the first time yesterday.....  I'd prefer to try and find the English subbed version of the original series, but I'm having to make do with either the subbed version of the remake Sailor Moon Crystal, or the English dub for now.

Finding the Eng sub version shouldn't be that hard. I had no real trouble finding it online. Here, go to a website called GoGo Anime TV and you should find it.

Thanks! :)  The usual souces I go to for anime didn't have it.  Normally I don't use GoGo Anime as it doesn't always play the videos for me.

No prob  :)

I should also mention that Pokemon also got it's start in the 90's ('96 I believe) and hasn't stopped yet.

My nineties anime list (including the year 2000 since that was pretty much 1999 The Remake) was pretty much the following:

+Sailor Moon
+Ronin Warriors
+Pokemon
+Gundam Wing
+Dragon Ball Z (neither Dragon Ball nor GT had been released in America yet)
+Random episodes of literally anything anime I could scrape up on mid to late nineties internet

Remember when Toonami had that "Midnight Run" that promised "GUNDAM WING, UNCUT"? I remember staying up waaay late to see how that was different enough to warrant calling attention to this separate release that was so edgy it had to be banished to late night TV, and then was major bummed to find out it was pretty much the exact same show, just with a little extra blood and cussin'.

And later on my Dad didn't like all this "Japanimation" I was watching so he disabled Cartoon Network on our cable box and locked the settings on the episode RIGHT BEFORE GUNDAM EPYON WAS REVEALED. I ended up missing the rest of Gundam Wing's original American broadcast thanks to that, and I didn't get to see the rest of the series until years later when a friend of mine who had the DVD box set marathoned the damn thing with me. It also caused me to miss huge chunks of everything else on Toonami, which was basically the only TV I watched around that time.

The dawn of the twenty first century was a dark time for my anime habits.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

I didn't really get into anime properly, aside for Cardcaptor Sakura and GW (who I mainly watched for Zechs), until my first year of uni.  Then I was introduced to Vampire Hunter D and Hellsing, and the rest is history really.

What about Teknoman, Voltron and Battle of the Planets?

Also I believe Thundercats and Silverhawks have Japanese animators according to the credits.

Those were the shit.

Yeah. It is showing regularly once a week in Japan and Ash still is the same age since it started.
So did Digimon at least the characters there (Adventure, 02, and Tri) age.

I no longer am relying on tv for my anime fix now. The internet is a friend. :)

Some are older than the 90s:
Voltron 80s
Battle of the Planets 70s
Thundercats 80s
Silverhawks 80s

I remember being introduced to Teknoman (Tekkaman Blade) through Tatsunoko vs Capcom.  I then went on a Tekkaman Blade marathon that summer.

Thanks for the clarification Shiroi, the 90's held that nostalgia for me even if it was from the previous generations :)

I remember being introduced to Teknoman (Tekkaman Blade) through Tatsunoko vs Capcom.  I then went on a Tekkaman Blade marathon that summer.

You know what's interesting, when I was a kid I had a Teknoman pencil case (which was more like a blue vhs cover with a padded image of Teknoman back and front), then I saw the show in the 90's. Then I played TVC around 2 decades later and made the connection. I did NOT see that coming!
