Unsurprisingly, SoulCalibur is for sure dead and Bamco is making sure of it.

Let's hope we get something else a little later on (I was hoping for a Tag Tournament-esque Dream-Match game), but for now, and possibly forever, this seems to be all we're getting of SoulCalibur, anymore.

Wellllllllll shit.
And I was just thinking about this series today, plotting out an Infinity Blade style spin-off about the various wielders of Soul Edge over the years.
Guess Bamco will never listen to my pitch now, because they have pachinko and franchises to ruin.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

I could dig that. It's like a mobile version of SoulCalibur Legends that works.

Ideally I'd have had it on Vita and 3DS, but handheld systems are old hat now, it seems.   :'(

But I was thinking you know, very linear, tell the stories in like 8-12 chapters with each chapter being a different character with a different weapon style (but identical or close-to-it command inputs because the main character is actually Soul Edge), and ending with Cervantes finding Soul Edge for the very first time, which of course kicks off the events of Soul Blade and therefore the saga at large.

That was my big idea.

Too bad it won't ever happen now.

Everybody's going towards the pachislot route!
I'm now wondering which game franchise is next in line...

Being on Vita would be a good idea. I still don't know why Infinity Blade didn't receive any kind of Vita port. It'd be perfect on there. The closest thing we have is Duel Mode in Dynasty Warriors Next, and Duel Mode is absolute crap.

Something along the lines of that would be cool. Even if it were something like a free-to-play, a cool way to do it would have been like, after every level-up or something, you can open a box to receive a randomly ranked character such, like most FTP games, each with their own moveset. Or something like that.

Man, I'm so dead inside with how Bamco is treating this series.

The funny part is that so many franchises are already in the pachislot route, yet people don't realize it. Resident Evil, for example, has about 5 or 6 different pachislot games, but most don't realize it cuz Capcom is still making actual RE games.

Boy, if only other companies did that...

R.I.P. Soul Calibur.
Now that Tim Langdell can no longer sue people, only hope Bamco could release a revival title; Soul Edge 2

I think rather than making a sequel to a 20+ year old game, they're better off just completely rebooting the series.
