More plain rectangular rooms, hooray. Not to mention the waterfall room and the caves look like they're out of a GBA.

You do, just not rationally.

I just feel that people dissing females are no better than people dissing black people or gays or whatever (even if they're just videogame characters). It makes me angry, that's all. But i'll leave it at that now.

He never dissed females.  he very clearly stated that he just could not relate to them, and many many people prefer characters they can relate to in all forms of fiction.

As I said before, had he claimed in any way that women are not equal to men than yes, that would be sexist.  Saying he prefers to play as males is not sexist.

People are complaining about ONE trailer-exclusive song from a game that's not due for release until late Fall and using that to judge the entire game's soundtrack?

Talk about wild assumptions.

It's not so asinine. It shows that Michiru Yamane is still doing the same boring, uncreative arrangement she has been using for song after song after song for the past few years. She is capable of so much more.

I weas mostly underwhelmed at this point too. But it is still early. To me the game still looked more 'PoR' than 'DoS' to me..

well if you read his reply in one way, it sounds like he thinks female characters are only good for being cannon fodder to be rescued and can't be strong lead characters, and he refuses to play a game that challenges his viewpoint, that's where all the drama comes from. :o

I'd say the part about the damsel in distress is borderline sexist. If anything else, it's a desire to maintain patriarchy by victimizing and stereotyping women.

Haha, I can't believe I said patriarchy in an internet forum. I should probably leave before all hell breaks loose.

Anyway, where were we? Oh yeah... Order of Ecclesia... I like the bosses!

He said that he prefers stories where it is a male lead rescuing a female.  Ok, so what if a girl said she liked it vice versa?  No one would say anything because the culture of today jumps on anything a man says about a woman as sexist.  Fact is sexism is when someone feels that the two genders are not equal.  Nothing he said suggests this.

Also you could argue that saying a male is better suited for this sort of thing isn't sexist.  The fact that magic is involved changes it.  But if you prefer a story with a warrior rather than a magic user it does fit better to be male.  Males are more suited to be warriors, it's just biology.  In some species the females are the fighters, humans just aren't one of them.

Notice the blood splatter.  It's actually red this time, not orange like in Dawn and Portrait.

1:16-1:18
The foreground in this room is treadful.  There's no detail of any kind, and the platforms are just reedy little rectangles.

1:19-1:22
As everyone knows, this area has pretty good detail to it.  Hopefully there's more like this.

1:23-1:25
The background in this area is repetitive as hell (and Christ is that enemy ugly), but look at the foreground.  It looks like someone finally remembered how to make caverns that are actually structured like the real thing, rather than having perfectly flat floors.

1:33-1:35
More non-organic platforms.  Nothing screams "HEY THIS IS A VIDEO GAME" like rectangles jutting out from walls.

1:45-1:47
Chanoix turns a river into a bed of ice, just like Sypha in CVIII.  Nice!

2:00-2:01
Frankenstein's sprite is new and uglier than ever.  Also, notice that the doorways in this room are open, so he's not a boss, as you might assume.

2:02-2:06
Some interesting uses of Magnes here.  It's good that they're thinking beyond "double-jump, super-jump, bat form" in terms of abilities that augment mobility.

2:07-2:08
I'm not sure what those spotlight things are supposed to be, but animation of the Giant Skeleton boss makes for a really cool shadow effect.

2:29-2:32
Aside from RECTANGLES, these vertically-oriented areas look all right.

2:42-2:45
Hahahaha

2:57-2:59
What.
