CotM is my favourite metroidvania, possible my favourite CV too, that being said, I dont see the need to make it canon. Sometimes I think the series would have worked better if all the games were unconnected in an alternate universe kind of way.

all that really contradicted the canon in cotm was Drac. he was resurrected twice in a span of 10 years, and killed by a bunch of unrelated hunters.

were they to retcon drac and put carmilla in his place, there'd be no real contradictions. the game would lose the last real connection to the series though, seeing as there's no castlevania (the game happens in carmilla's austrian castle), no vampire killer (instead we get a generic hunter whip) and no belmonts (but a bunch of newcomers).

Playing as Maxim was fun too. How could you not like it?!

Maxim was fun. That's why I didn't hang him. But he was still too overpowered; especially being a tertiary bloodline to the series.

His sprites equally suuxxored though.

. For Legends to be 'tweaked' it would have to be 'remade' storyline wise. :P

I wouldn't say remade, but they would have to do a little bit of work with the plot, the plot we got is a good base (minus al of course), all they'd need to do would be to flesh it out more and give drac a little more dialogue and explain that he isn't dead at all.

Because it did not fit into the timeline at all.

They didn't have the Vampire Killer. In CotM, the whip used is referred to as the Hunter's Whip, or something similar.

Really, why not just make "Nathan Graves" Nathan Belmont instead? That'd solve a few problems, then they'd just have to re-work the timeline a bit. Unyuu!

I thought nathan had the vk whip? Been awhile since I played that one, in any case I guess they could just add that into the game as well. Hugh's dad has the VK and hands it down to nathan who is also of belmont blood. (which would actually make nathan and hugh's fued more epic).

I read a Nintendo Power at the store the other day and I was surprised and happy with the new artwork (and new artist) It's still somewhat reminiscent of Ayame Kojima's but everyone isn't feminine men in trenchcoats or feminine women in trenchcoats. The one thing that was weird though, was that the badguy's design was almost -EXACTLY- like Balthier's in Final Fantasy 12

the n64 games would fit in more if they replaced bloodlines.

then not only the motorcycle skeletons would fit, renon's remark about a great war being about to start at the end of the game (ww1) would do too and even the after 100 years could work, assuming bram stoker's would also be cut.

I agree the new artist is great, and Albus more than a little resembles Balthier.

Also, Barlowe kinda reminds me of Senator Palpatine o_O.

All good stuff though, and worlds better than either DOS' or POR's art.
