You missed my point entirely.  What I am saying is that the term fighting game is used in far to broad of a manner.  Splitting it into sub-genres would be a lot more fitting.  In this case, I would call it a vs. action game.

The game features one on one fighting, so it's a fighting game. I don't see how anybody could fall for that "3D Action Versus game" bullshit.

"Fighting game" is a broad term, but so is "RPG game" or "Adventure game". But you don't see producers of RPG games trying to tell people "It's a action game but you pick your actions from a turn based menu!"

You're kidding. If the Japanese release date is in October, we might not even get it this year! My guess is that we'll get it in the US around Christmas and the European release date won't be until early next year. Just a guess though, you never know.

Portrait of Ruin was released in Japan on 11/16/06. It was released in the U.S. on 12/5/06. Chances are, it'll be similar situation with this game.
