I like how the style of artwork looks like the Gothic art of the games SotN onward except DoS and PoR, but much better developed. For one thing, the guys don't look so androgynous now.

Also, here's something I noticed from one of the comments on the OoE Youtube video. Someone apparently got the idea that the white-haired guy on the throne in the opening cinematic was Alucard. How the heck did they come up with that?

Me too!
It's probably my favorite video game cover ever. Though there are so many great ones it's hard to choose. (And many really awful ones too..)

I still say this is by far the best boxart I've seen on a Castlevania, and probably any game.

-- Well....

You know... other than THIS one, of course:

But yeah I'm loving that OoE one, too. I had a feeling we wouldn't get the Japanese one that was posted months ago, and it turns out this one's much more emotional and appropriate anyway.

I agree the artistic decisions here are careful and effective. Shanoa is much brighter and bolder than Albus and her composition, with her hair, takes up a greater portion of the picture, implicating her importance over Albus. It's even almost as if she's on a different plane than him. As if she's not actually on the stairs.

And like others have said, it looks like Albus is heading toward the Keep, while Shanoa is giving a sly grin over her shoulder; not to mention with a blood-red sword imposing itself on the picture in her hand. It's almost as if... dare I say... Shanoa looks more like the VILLAIN here.

There's something devious aobout her.

Albus looks remorsed and reserved to his fate, like he doesnt want to climb.

So yeah that's what I think of the pic

Well while i can't see what he stated about Shanoa, his interpretation of Albus is spot on. I thought the same thing when i saw the pic.

While I agree with Antraxx's interpretation for the most part, I don't quite agree with him saying that Shanoa looks like the villain. However, the way she is portrayed in this and other pictures suggests that there's something not quite natural about her...

Well, yeah, she's a witch essentially. Using the environment's elements to make glyphs and all..

Or maybe she is an artificial lifeform with the ability to use glyphs better than any ordinary human.  Then again, I doubt that's the case.  She is most likely a mage with the natural ability to absorb glyphs into her body and use them.  In a way, is sort of like Soma's power of dominance except Shinoa absorbs magical glyphs instead of the souls of monsters.
