Obata has become my third favorite CV artist, behind Masaki, who is behind Ayami Kojima. So there.

Pleae don't call him that. He is a contracted designer who shall not be making a return.

Obata isn't that bad. Hes only bad if you think of the designs in a negative way.

When there is artwork I don't like in this series I always like to think of it this way, Kojima's art take awhile for her to produce, she was probably working on DXC's art instead of PoR's so maybe she's busy working on something totally awesome, while this dude does judgment, and this other person does OoE (which I like). That always puts my mind at ease...

Cvfan, what is it? You like bishie-anime-style and think it mixes with CV. That's riddiculous, but okay. Only, WHY should we accept it? There is Kojima and the OoE guy (what was his name again? Because he's AWESOME.) so WHY in hell should we accept Oba-fucking-ta?

I don't get it.
The artwork for CV1, CV2, CV3 and CV4 were HIDEOUS. But the games were good (except CV2, but that goes withot saying), so who cares?

This game and its trailers are actually beginning to grow on me. I'm not digging the artwork either, but I don't understand why people take it so damn seriously. It's just artwork/graphics! Besides, it's not like it's the worst the series has seen ever.

Artwhores, is the one and only explanation.

I find Obata's Art really interesting, it could suppose another change in the saga and could be perfect for XIX and XX th century-based CastleVania (frankly, Kojima only draw propertly medieval costumes, that's a reality)

In fact, i prefer Obata and the illustrator of de N64 games and Circle of the Moon much more than Ayami Kojima.

In Reply To #803 and others

Guys...

FOR ONCE WOULD YOU JUST COMPARE THE GUY TO SOME OF THE OTHER ARTISTS IN THE SERIES?  Look at Legends, PoR, DoS, Rondo even, there's no way they're better than Obata.

I agree with this sooooooo much(not to mention Christopher's games). Obata, in my mind, simply outdoes them. I'm not saying he's like the uber best artist ever, but he has a unique Gothic style, almost close to Kojima, but Masaki beats him by a mile.

And besides, I'm comparing him to all the other art other than Kojima's and Masaki's. Aside from his ludicrous outfits they're wearing, the actual art of the others pales in comparison to Obata's. Process of elimination, people.

*looks at Aeon's Art*

Man if didn't see the in-game model you could not convince me that Aeon was a guy. Lol shame, would have made for an awesome chick. As for the Clock Sword. Sure it unwieldy but it looks nice. Lets see how he swings it in the game before we call it crap.

I think not being able to see if Aeon is a guy or a girl is what makes him so cool. That stuff always turns me on  ;D Other than that, he looks absolutely out-of-place in the CV universe. But I don't mind.. after all, it's only a video game.

I dont see how anyone can hate on the original CV art much less CV2 *glare shelverton*

that art was where the series came from. Without it there would be no CV. I personally hate the bishie anime look of all the new CVs PoR was ok you could actually tell John was a guy and OoE is pretty nice so far. Over all I dont mind much the art of this game either but to say that the old art is horrible and this new shit is better is a vast overstatement. Sadly its all opinion and last I checked opinions arent illegal but sometimes they should be =/

Well, I always think people who say they like the oldschool CV artwork are being ironic. But I guess they're not.. my bad.

The cover artwork for Simon's Quest (and many other games from the 80s) always makes me laugh. It's the very epitome of bad taste IMO. And I grew up with those games, so I'm not a newbie Kojima fanboy or anything like that. I just think they're disturbingly ugly.

And again, it's my opinion. And I know most of you disagrees with me. And it's alright.  :D
