It looks like black knight has a head. Like a really tiny one. As if his armor was huge like a mech or somethign. I could be wrong.
really?
i don't see it.
maybe your mistaking those tiny skulls around his neck area for a head?

Hmm... Black knight could potentially be early concept for the armor we see in the trailer... ya?

I actually thought he had multiple little heads (which is downright disturbing, kinda like the freaky two-headed baby-thing in Silent Hill 4), but it's probably a necklace, I guess.

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if this game is gonna be shockfull of references to earlier Castlevania games, at least when it comes to enemies and environments (albeit with a modern twist that some fans will or will not appreciate.). I guess we'll know more in April!  :D

Black Knight is actually the original name for the regular Armor Knight in the English version of the NES Castlevania manual.  This is really a "suped up" original armor.

On another note, I hope that whenever you gain new equipment, armor, etc, you are shown in the game as wearing it.

Black Night= Dulahan ;)

Maybe it's a veiled reference to "Monty Python and the search for the Holy Grail"? It's just a flesh wound! LOL.

If you notice in the trailers and screenshot's Gabriel is shown wearing a gauntlet and shiny leg braces and in some shot's he isn't. So equipment will be shown in game.

Just wondering... at what point for you guys would it be TRULY castlevania. If Dracula is the main baddie, even if the rest of the game is very high fantasy? If It's filled with references and enemies and a true to form castle but a different villian? If Theme of Simon starts playing at the last battle? haha

I think they've already made their mind up about LoS so it will never qualify as a "true" Castlevania in their opinion.
To me it's 100% Castlevania because Konami says it is, simple as that. It's their franchise. It may be a great Castlevania, or a terrible one, but it's still 100% Castlevania.

If Theme of Simon kicked in during the last battle with Dracula, I would probably go bat-shit nuts with joy.

i have to disagree.
i've been one of the people that didn't accept LOS i'll admit that.
but lately i find myself starting to accept it more and more as new pictures and screenshots come out namely the inner castle pics, the confirmation of the library and clocktower and recently Slogra. thats very good to hear as a original CV fan. but wut you said about Konami deciding wut is and wut isn't a castlevania game is completly false. so wut your saying is if Konami came out with a game staring Tinkerbell Belmont and it took place in the magicall land of lolly pops it would be a Castlevanai because they say so?
offcoarse you wouldn't "atleast i hope you wouldn't :-\" dare call that a Castlevania because it has the Castlevania name. just because the name is slaped on there doesn't automatically make it a Castlevania game. now lately i'm starting to accept LOS as a Castlevania game but it still has so more CV elements to show me before a "fully" see it as a "true" to the series Castlevania title

To me, the only way it wouldn't be 100% Castlevania is if it totally ignored all themes present in the prior series. If it was ALL High Fantasy, there was no Belmonts, no Dracula, no Vampires, no dark Gothic structures, no classic horror monsters(werewolves, zombies, skeletons), no whip wielding hero and so on. An example would be, if Komani(prior to release), acquired the game Trine and planned on releasing it under the name "Castlevania", I wouldn't have accepted that. Just like I wouldn't have accepted if would've released God of War under the name "Castlevania". There are just some games that would've fit. I'm sure, considering the comparisons earlier, regarding the Final Fantasy series, a lot of people also bring up similar questions. You know what wouldn't make the cut in the FF series? Shadow Madness(Urgh) and Legend of Dragoon!

Interestingly enough, I'm past the point of thinking LoS doesn't look like a CV. Who knows, it could actually look MORE like a CV game than CotM.

Castlevania for me is everything that wears that name, and keeps faithfully to the franchise spirit (That's why Judgment is not a CV for me ;) ) LOS is 100% Castlevania IMO, it's got the basics (Belmont, whip, vampires) but it's not only that, it's the emotional attatchement, that's what I always liked about CV, in the end, they all show different sides of human nature and how humans always fall in their destiny, even if they didi't want to. For what we've heard, Gabriel's tale is very human, filled with emotion ,sorrow and darkness, but always hope, jut like every other CV, and that's enough for me ;)

I don't think Dracula to be in the game, or at least. not Mathias Cronqvist.
However, Dracula is not a name itself, but a title given to fierce warriors back then, so, they could call the Vampire lord dracula, and it's still ok, howvever, it's not our Dracula (However, IGa's origin story was awful, did you know that Elizabetha Corvinus was Mathias Corvinus' cousin and first wife of Vlad Tepes II -From Draculea lineage, and who the novel is based on, but in reality was his son who cwas called Dracula) who later married queen Ilona? And all that ocurred in the 1400's? Seriously, Iga smokes hard)  :D

Everything comes full circle

However, "CV elements" are bound to change with time, adding stuff and throwing other stuff out of the window. It's called evolution and it can be a good or a bad thing depending on the developers. Looking at Symphony of the Night today, it's a classic Castlevania, but what about in 1997 when it was first released? It was extremely different from the older games in the series. Alucard didn't even have a whip, and the actual gameplay was so different I'm sure many people were confused. Having said that, I think LoS looks more faithful to the series roots than SotN ever did. However, if LoS ends up being as "high fantasy" as many of you fear, I probably won't like it as much as I  would like to, but then again; Maybe the future of Castlevania is high fantasy? It's gonna change the fan base completely, and many of us will probably never touch the series again. Still, it will be called Castlevania and we'll just have to deal with it. Sad but true.

However, Dracula is not a name itself, but a title given to fierce warriors back then...

No. Dracula IS a proper name. Vlad Dracula, Price of Wallachia. Aka Vlad III. Aka Vlad "Tepes" ("the Impaler" in Romanian); a title given to him. Also, Vlad Dracula's father was given a name, too. Vlad the second was called "Dracul" ("the Dragon" in Romanian). From then on his sons was given "Dracula" (Son of the Dragon) as his surname and it stuck for the rest of the family since.
If that wasn't the case they would have used it as a title for Walter in LoI.
I don't know where ppl got that idea. It certainly isn't something from the CV franchise.
The only thing the series says is that Mathias takes the name on some time before CV3.
Whether that makes Mathias the CV version of the historical Dracula or he got the name from the historical figure is unknown.
