BUT DOES IT HAVE CLASSIC PLATFORMING?! (Anyone can do a violent hack-n-slash with good graphics God of War/Devil May Cry/Ninja Gaiden)

...On the one hand, it sounds like Konami lost faith in Castlevania as a franchise. I hope this "reboot" won't disregard the essence of the series.

This game can't be called Castlevania without dracula or a dark lord of some sort who owns a giant caslte.

... I should correct that

G4's website promises video.

G4 TV channel not even acknowledging Konami conference.

I take it you like mediocre games?
You are a fool who assumes too much. I am annoyed by the integration of what could have been something good, exciting and new into an already existing franchise, inherently limiting the course it may take. Not only that, it more then likely limits the course that Castlevania itself may take - but we'll have to wait and see. The fact that it's apparently unconnected is a beacon of hope.

If there's anything that would make me hate the classic Castlevania games, it most certainly isn't the games themselves; but rather, that ignorant fraction of their fanbase.

Or maybe in IGA. I think I'm just wondering if it will even I dunno...'feel' like a Castlevania game. I don't want GoW with vampires.

So it's official now. I'm not sure about the story rebooting bit, but I do really think Castlevania needed a proper upping... I'm still in awe. Now the question is: what happened with IGA and that Alucard teaser? I don't know but I hardly doubt it's a happy story.

Considering the concept art has a castle I wouldn't be too worried.

Having a belmont again seems cliche.
But so is having a whip and dracula being a villain.

Well it wouldn't be Castlevania without some of those elements.

I'm more interested in how this "OPEN WORLD" will work, and how the mask integrates into it all.

i think having a cloud castle, a plant castle, a crystal castle, and a rock castle, and all the areas in between would fit this game very well

The "whip" is essential to any next-gen start of Castlevania. I just hope this game isn't flat (needs platforming perils) and limited to GoW attack combos. Ideally, I'd like to see some eerie N64 quest elements thrown in. But platforming is the first test. It's the element that's hurt IGA's efforts. And if there's any justice in this world, the platforming will include whip-swinging over gaps ala Castlevania IV.
