The music composer is Oscar Araujo? Can't say I've ever heard of the name... if he did the music in the trailer, then I can't say I mind the new guy. Definitely refreshing.

These nimrods in the gaming press ask the lamest questions.  It's maddening to wait on an article or interview like this one and have still more questions after reading it.  I have this gut feeling that some market-minded suit at Konami pulled strings to slap the Castlevania brand onto Lords of Shadow and brought Kojima on board for credibility.

Alarming to me is this talk about the focus on action and the downplay of exploration.  No mention of platforming.  No mention of IGA's work.  No mention of either the N64/PS2 games, their flaws, or what Mercury Stream has set out to improve.  Not even one question about gameplay or design whatsoever.  This interviewer should be fired for asking so many pointless, stupid questions.   >:(

It was a pretty lame interview, but you have to keep two things in mind.

1. The interviewer did mention that he has to go through Konami to learn about "weapons, monsters, and crucifixes".

And as it turns out my previous complaints are not at all unjustified.

The irony to this is, I don't think this was a CV game originally.  I remember when this forum discovered it last year, and we all saw the similarities to CV.  I wonder if us, the fanbase, talking about how much Lords of Shadow was like CV lead Konami to making it CV.  We could have been the ones who caused this, that would be funny.

And an insult to those who felt otherwise. S:

If there's anything that would make me hate the classic Castlevania games, it most certainly isn't the games themselves; but rather, that ignorant fraction of their fanbase.

We'll probably never find out what was going on between LoI and CVIII, or why the Belmont's seemingly vanished after Richter (main Belmont's, not characters with loose ties), why a 16th century vamp appeared in the 20th (well, referring to that PoR timeline bonus tidbit, anyway), etc.

I hope these spanish developers do their homework (but it's looking like they don't give a damn about the established story & they're doing their own take on things, which I find highly dubious at the moment).

Castlevania will never be the same. . .

and we also have some remarkable "external" colaborators for example, Oscar Araujo, who's in charge of the Music. He's working on the spectacular Soundtrack.

Boring soul-less generic orchestra 'next gen' sound track confirmed.

Yeah, that suspicion has been raised around here by myself and others. This interview seems to point in that direction more than ever. I think the Castlevania name and Kojima's involvement were slapped on to the game to give it a built-in market. What a joke. However, the good news is that it sounds like Konami may yet exert some influence to include more Castlevania references. The question is, will it be enough? (Oh, and thumbs down to bland, 'next-gen' orchestral soundtracks).

LoS will be so unlike Castlevania,  that the mainstream will love it but the hardcore will hate it.

just like Metroid Prime.  I hate that series and the 2-D Metroids still conquer the franchise.   the MP games were so freaking boring and not as fun as the classics.

but surprisingly, Metroid Prime is closer to a Metroid game than
Lords of Shadow is to a Castlevania game.

You know what? Go and cry over IGA's tombstone, I'm tired of you judging a game only for one trailer without any information.
And about the "reboot" thing , a spanish guy in castlemaniacs.com, a latin forum, talked with a developer of the game and he said that he couldn't reveal anything, but the game isn't a new storyline, it's placed at the "darkest times" of the storyline.
Think about the 4 centuries hole between Leon and Trevor.
Now go and cry alone fanboys (I'm not talking about everyone here, but the most) and kneel on your altar of God IGA.

Provide evidence for your claims or shut up.

Also, trying to claim that we have nothing except for the trailer to go on is nothing but a fanciful, minimalistic and ignorant lie.

It is funny how worked people like you get about IGA, though.  :P

all i have to say how will this even tie in, if at all, it;ll likely be a spin off, so far it doesnt event seem like a castlevania, from what i gathered the game was only supposed to be called "lords of shadow" but konami had it retrofitted into a castlevania, i dunno if thats true or not, but it could either make castlevania or break it again...i never liked kojima's games, they were more supposed to movies then games i think. if he takes over it'll just be one horrible remake mess, just longer with nmore boring cut scenes, sure it could be good if the story is decent, but so far the voice acting isnt selling me nor the fancy graphics, sure i'd like to know if dracula and the belmonts will even be mentioned, aw well, i guess it cant get to bad...well i could be wrong as well, looks like its back to playing judgment for me

I'd like to know if they are going to even attempt to sell this in Japan, and release it under the Akumajo Dracula name? How can you have "Akumajo Dracula" if there's no Dracula(or some sort of "incarnation" of Dracula)? Or just release it under the "Castlevania" name(which I hear isn't that popular in Japan).
