That would be a good question to ask Dave Cox on his twitter now would it..~~

If i had a twitter I would ask him but I dont.

And I doubt konami would allow him to answer it.

One of the biggest gripes and moans about LoS is "NO DRACULA = NO CASTLEVANIA", there is no what that would make anybody more happy if it was in the timeline.

Who cares about Dracula? They are 4 games in the series without Dracula's involvement, LoI, HoD, AoS and Dos and nobody complained about Dracula not being in those. Altough I have to admit the stories of these repective games still revolve around the character. But why not take the next step and leave him out completely? It's pretty much a given that they will eventually do this anyway because undoubtedly, there are going to place games in IGA's timeline that are set after DoS without Soma. In fact, there is already an offical Castlevania novel released in Japan  (set in 2037) that features Orlox as the new main villian and pretty much ignores Soma. Hell, that SotN radio drama doesn't have Dracula in it too.

Its actually funny that the four games that I mentioned in the beginning of this post are named "Castlevania" rather then "Akumajou Dracula" (Demon castle Dracula) and that is because they don't have Dracula in it! A Castlevania game without Dracula would be no issue.

Bottom line:

"NO DRACULA = NO CASTLEVANIA"

This is bull.

But like those games mentioned, Lords of Shadow would have to have a convincing foil to make up for lack of Dracula. Dracula technically was in HoD though not until the very end and he was a wraith. Lament had the lead-up for Dracula to appear in future games and started the feud with the Belmonts. The Sorrow series didn't deal with Dracula directly, but with his direct incarnation who had the susceptibility to become Dracula again if given the right direction.

So really, even if LoS doesn't have Dracula directly, I believe they need to have him indirectly linked in some way to maintain a bit of the spark that keeps the game tied to the rest of the series, in spirit if not in actual timeline-sense. A Castlevania with no hinting or mention of Dracula ANYWHERE in any sense, I will agree is not a true Castlevania game. There needs to be something. Otherwise, I will be disappointed.

And if there's not a direct Dracula, please give us more than just one vampire otherwise. I want the Lords of Shadow to be a whole mess of vampires with a feel akin to Vampire Hunter D. READ HIDEYUKI KUKUCHI, COX!!!

I don't know why people are so worried about dracula NOT being in it..When the newer trailer released you can clearly hear draculas voice sayin he will get rid of the belmont clan..

Did you know that they refer to this Dracula as an alternate being in the Japanese timeline? They refer to him as "false Dracula". Check it out, I'm not lying.

I wouldn't say that too quickly. Cox didn't want to confirm if he was in it or not when I asked him myself. Don't you think that's kind off suspicious?

They also refer to Trevor as Ralph Belmondo but I'm still gonna call him Trevor Belmont.

No it's really not. It's probably a huge part of the story.. Like someone telling gabriel to use both masks to revive his wife when instead it brings on the creation of the dark lord dracula.

Yeah so he probably doesn't want to mention if he's in it for sure because its a huge part of the story..Considering its being RETOLD to think theres no dracula period would be stupid. It is called " castlevania" which is a game about dracula and a castle..to an extent.

Man, I'm so going to laugh when they reveal that the Japanese name of this game is "Akumajou Dracula" which would immediately give away the villian.

Your logic doesn't convince me by the way.

You know that is an excellent point. When this game comes out in japan will it be called Akumajou Dracula or will this be the first Castlevania to be released in japan actually called Castlevania?

Now there is a thought.

Depends on if you subscribe to the original Japanese version of things or you adhere to the American versions. Personally I use whichever will make sense, and in my mind it was a Dracula wraith, regardless of whether or not it was created by the castle or Maxim or what have you. It's still *A* Dracula, at the very least. That's the point I was trying to make anyway, was that some incarnation of Dracula should be in Castlevania games for me to feel satisfied. (other people may feel differently....as CastleDan has so elegantly pointed out)

Acording to a Kotaku Article, Kotaku jp, and Japo wikipedia, it's called castlevania, just as Lament of Innocence and HOD. So... NO dracula?
http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%82%AA%E9%AD%94%E5%9F%8E%E3%83%89%E3%83%A9%E3%82%AD%E3%83%A5%E3%83%A9
I predict the game to be a flop in Japan, God, they don't even have a wiki page for it, but Rebirth does. japo people are very cautelous with foregin games, and more with onced-japo-now-eastern-games.
But, who cares?  :P

Everything comes full circle
