I'm guessing Zobek is simply using Gabriel to collect the masks, leading him to believe he's gathering the God Mask but he's getting the Devil Mask instead. At the climax, Zobek will steal the pieces & form it to become Dracula!

I don't think so, this is too easy to be true. As Cox kept telling us for countless times, this game has a twisted story and since Kojima Productions is involved in the project, Kojima himself will support this direction.

I bet that Dracula will be mentioned but Belmont won't be able to fight him and Dracula in his best shape should be introduced as a man who wants to play as God and for this sake he should only be mentioned ( not to be seen as how we know God ). And believe me, Dracula will be introduced. If you ask anyone about Castlevania series, they would say that the only thing they know about Castlevania is it has vampires and since they are new comers to the renewed series, Dracula is still the only known character to be recognized in addition to the Belmonts.

Well, this is what I think for now. As per the new screen shots, They are fantastic but I'm dying to see a gameplay footage to experience the quality. There's something wrong with the textures, but since it's a fixed screen shot, I can not make a final judgement about it.

And yes, this game wasn't supposed to be Castlevania in the first place. Still inspired by it though..

Wait ! Death is confirmed. I'm sold!

Thanks Kojima .. one of the revolutionaries in the entertainment industry

Haha. Gabriel's exploring the city Albus's gun is named after, Agartha (Well, LoS is using a different spelling).

Lord of Shadows: Secretly the Order of Ecclesia prequel.
That's another interesting reference. Looks like there was something Cox liked about OoE, hence these references!

And yeah, these new screens, in general, are ultra glorious! It's interesting, because at first, the general look of the castle shots released were more ruined, more pure ancient and weathered, almost a stark contrast to what IGA has been doing since SotN with the more fancy-looking palace corridors and such. These new screens prove that those fancy-looking areas STILL exist in this game, as well. A lot of those castle shots look very IGA-vania in style.

Y'know what hit me, also? The scene where Gabriel is walking the bean over the ancient ruins, I got flashbacks of that one water stage in SCV4(the one where you eventually fight the Orhphic Vipers), maybe it's the waterfalls and the look of it(an ancient city).

You guys misunderstood what Cox meant.

It was originally going to be a REMAKE of the first castlevania. From the get go, but konami didn't greenlight it yet so they didn't want to say it was castlevania till they got to see more of the game.

Okay, now I'm starting to get excited for this game. I was skeptical at first, but it slowly sounded better and better with each piece of news that came out. Now it no longer seems like the radical departure from the series that it was described as being: different than the recent games, sure, but very much in the theme of the series overall. The castle looks awesome so far. Looks really evil.

I'm still curious about why the Combat Cross was introduced, though. I hope they make ditching the Vampire Killer worthwhile. It's cool that it looks retractable, and doubles as a stake, but I still wonder if there's more to it than that. Also, I wonder if it'll be a projectile weapon, too?
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

actually Cox explained in one of his Interviews that the Vampire Killer IS in the game and it has nothing to do with the combat cross wich suggest that it may be found "or made" at somepoint later in the game. if i had to guess it would prolly happen in the Castle

Wouldn't that contradict the time line since the VK was made in LoI?
BTW, does LoS have an official date it takes place?

Um, well the game doesn't take place in the offical timeline but rather starts everything over again. The game has a date though: 1047.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I was a huge naysayer, even up until recent times, but I think Cox is finally winning me over. I just need that trailer to know for sure.

I have so high expectations now it's not even funny. I need to cool off and be critical for a change.  :o Here goes;

It's easy to get carried away by these gorgeous screenshots, but they're worth nothing if the game is boring, or flawed in ways we have not yet heard about. So, a gameplay video would be nice. Just to see how everything moves. And like someone already said, there's something about the textures that doesn't seem 100% right. Some screens look a little grainy? Maybe it's nothing.

Well one site said the combat was smooth and stylish like something out of Soul Caliber. No one seems to complain how it was running.

Well, the game is playable at the E3 so I guess we find out soon if the game is boring or not.

So, like, when is it supposed to be out?  Last year's trailer proclaimed April 2010.
