Oh man, I'm gonna have fun "pretending" this game is interconnected to the other ones and trying to reconcile it with canon (the perfect type of material for the new fanon Castlevania wiki).  Like, Wygol Village was only recently founded in Order of Ecclesia by Belmont descendants, but maybe its more of a "refounding" or they named it after the Wygol in this game.

And heres something to add to the fan "interconnections"

The Great knight from Order of Ecclesia

is in Lords of Shadow

good eye!  it's very interesting that all the references so far to non-classic games seem to be from Order of Ecclesia.  I guess I'll have to ponder all sorts of other things in that game that might make it into this one.  man, not only the enemy is similar in those photos, but the stage it appears in.  i might have to imagine what all the OoE stages might look in LoS glory.

actually, i was comparing the "quiet streets of Wygol" village to the lost village in DoS.  they look quite a lot alike (especially the snow on the buildings), making me wonder if the lost village is actually Wygol Village.  of course, that doesn't make any sense, since i'm assuming the lost village in DoS is Japan (or is it?).  maybe Celia replicated wygol village completely the same way she replicated Dracula's Castle??

Pardon my ignorance if this is a random/stupid question, but I heard that they released a trailer a while ago with the music from SCIV. Is that true? Does anyone have a link? I'm having trouble finding it and am beginning to suspect I may have just heard wrong, forgive me if so ;_;

Yeah the trailer with CV4 music is the one that the PRESS saw last week, and that we all hope will be released next week sometime..

By the way, awesome last couple of pages here on this thread. Great thinking and eyes here at the dungeon lately..

Another tid bit I got excited about - Cox said that at some point in the game, you gain a weapon ability to kill vampires in the game with a stake. Love that. and love the fact they will be lesser vampires in the game. I always felt a CV without vampires under Dracula in it, are not complete CVs..

What you heard was what the preview articles released a few days ago said: That they, and so far only they, have seen an exclusive and official trailer for the game that featured the intro music from Super Castlevania IV. Whether this preview vid will be made public before E3 is unknown. But word is that it is very spoilerific, so my bet is no.

As a Castlevania fan, when a new trailer starts with the opening music from Super Castlevania IV, it becomes clear that the people at Mercury Steam--the developers behind the game--are also longtime fans of the series. Of course, that becomes even more apparent when Dave Cox, a Konami producer on the game, says that not only will that song be in the game, but it (as well as several other classic Castlevania tunes, like "Vampire Killer") will also be performed by a full orchestra.
If I forgot "everything I knew about Castlevania" I certainly wouldn't be excited about a new one coming out now would I?

There's almost too much information now!  A summary?

- 50 Levels, no backtracking required
- "Five minutes of combat, followed by five minutes of puzzle-solving, followed by five minutes of platforming"
- There will also be allies (famililars?), human and animal (horse, eagle)
- "Soul Calibur" style fighting
- Possible staking of enemies (IGN, GC 2009)
- EXP/orbs to collect to upgrade the Combat Cross and sub-weapons
- Light and Shadow magic tiers aimed at defense and aggression respectively
- "Button mashing can get players so far, but players need to mix up blocks and standard and ranged attacks."
- The whip flail is making a return
- No QTE, no Natal/Move integration
- Clock Tower, gears, electrified hazards; Refectory; Library
- Sub-weapons: "These will be acquired by destroying environmental objects like candles, replacing the hearts"
- Gabriel's eyes were changed from brown to blue coloured (1up)
- Dark musical score, third of which includes classic tunes (1up)
- 3 Lords of Shadow
- "Evil sorcerer" is a possible lord? (Joystiq)
- Death, Evil Butcher, Slogra
- Wygol village exploration
- SPOILER:
- Players see references between-stage maps from 8 and 16 bit Castlevania titles throughout Lords' 50 levels.
- Stages can be revisited any time for a completion percentage of up to %200.6
- Konami Code, you can have the experience points pop up

- "Konami came to us and said 'Japan is going to pitch, America is going to pitch, and you guys are going to pitch. We'll pick one"

This could be the best thing since Symphony . . . [edit: to qualify, new fanbase, hype level]

I wonder if Death is one of the Lords. It would fit.
And Dracula, too.

Or maybe the Lords of Shadow aren't even evil? They're there to prevent Gabriel from making a huge mistake by resurrecting his dead wife. Bringing dead people back is, after all, against God's will.  :o

Or maybe Marie is Dracula. Or maybe Gabriel is in fact a medusa head. Or maybe Slogra is Solid Snake. *insert random unlikely theory*

EDIT:
"Bringing dead people back is, after all, against God's will".
(Completely forgot about, you know.. Jesus Christ.)  :P

Death is more of a servant of Dracula so I doubt he could be one.

In fact, the Lords of Shadow could very well just be three elder vampires that control a specific region of the land complete with their own castle. One control's the forest region, one control's the mountain region, and one control's whatever region we haven't seen yet.

Also each Lord could have a powerful right hand man like Dracula has Death.
