It's been aluded to that there is more than 1 castle in the game. I just hope that THE castle really feels like THE castle if you know what I mean. The castle on the box art, and the 4 inter-connected ones we've seen in the trailers look cool, but they almost seem more cathedral-like than CV-like. For example we haven't seen THE stairway---I hope it's there

Four castles before the final one... It sounds like this game has a touch of Belmont's revenge in it. I need to seriously play this game.

According to Games Radar,

"Word on the shop floor here, from the magazines that are currently reviewing Castlevania: Lord of Shadows, is that it's bloody great."

Im expecing good things in the coming weeks.

Probably still too early to say this is the best 3D Castlevania ever?

Well, considering what it has to contend with... that likelihood isn't too far off.

The only legit competition this game has at this point is Legacy of Darkness, though I'm willing to bet that LoS' grandeur is going to largely end up overshadowing LoD's relative traditionality.

I honestly didn't like the N64 Castlevanias. I gave them a fair honest shot but I really just couldn't enjoy them, they really bored me. :X

Can't say the same for myself. I jumped right into Legacy and skipped CV64 altogether.

The game is probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite Castlevania title to date. No lie. Lots of platforming, replayability, and atmosphere.

I own every game except for Legacy of Darkness... and Rondo.

Of course lords of Shadow is gonna be the best 3D CV game. Even better than Akumajo Dracula The Arcade.

i would honestly prefer more traditionality over grandeur but i guess things have to be done if you wanna recapture a fanbase or something like that. but it wouldn't surprise me if this was the best out of the bunch. all the other ones had really severe game design flaws.

but i kinda think this one does too so.

oh no.

well okay, i find them more awkward than damaging.

It's not necessarily the direction I wanted them to go in either, but like you said it'll still be the best out of the N64/PS2 titles.

here's something awkward

I haven't played LoD, but CV64 is great too. If you ever have the chance, you might want to emulate it when you have the time. I hear that Schnieders and Carries levels are apparently remade in LoD and are inferior to the originals in CV64, plus the voice acting (although there isn't much) was removed in LoD.

I highly doubt that LoS will be better than CV64, cause that game is awesome, but who knows.
The dream reveals the reality, which conception lags behind. That is the horror of life - the terror of art.

...yeah, no. I've watched some footage of the stages in CV64, and I know for a fact that they've been improved in LoD. The Forest of Silence is just a stupid mess in the first game, and the Clock Tower is pathetic. The removal of the voice acting is a good thing.

I have no intention whatsoever of playing CV64. On the other hand, I really recommend that you play LoD.
