Gamespot revew is in, it's kinda low.

http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/lordsofshadow/video/6280011/castlevania-lords-of-shadow-video-review?hd=0 7.5

God  (face palm)

This is exactly what some of us fear, and others have wanted.....not good.

Anybody want to get second thoughts on having a free-roam CV?  One that is NOT GoW?  LOL, I love how the reviewer sort of downed the "having to move in ways he was not meant to move" comment.

I advocate for a Simon's Quest 3DVania, can we have it? please? Sadly.. that would mean next gen, I'm pretty sure this game has current machines at their limits...
Bah, GS can */*/*/ themselves, did you lisetn to/read their reasons? The only bad thing they said were about it was GOWIII and "its are weel realised" so WHAT THE ·&/$%? I smell Alucard/kratos fan in there.

Oh well, let's wait for the sequel, there won't be GOWIV by the time so it can be in the same style but nor bashed because of that game. And by the time reviewers will reckon their mistake I hope.

I hope it is the lowest score it gets, please, be it, if not... IDC, we, Cv fans and almost the whole world agreed, this game is more than the sum of it's parets, yeah, it can have some GOW things and SOTC things, but you know what makes it better than all of those games? you did it right, it's a CASTLEVANIA and it has the franchiche's esence, that's what makes it especial. Kudos to the ones who understand .)

GoW was great in its ways.  I looked at it like this:  The next gens loved the "puzzles."  I laughed my ass off asking myself "what puzzles?"  Resident Evil brought problems into games, and big ones.  If you can solve a game without a walkthrough, as you can with GoW, then it has puzzle elements, not puzzles.  This reviewer also biffed the game of having "ledges being just out of reach."  BOO HOOO SALLY!  If you have any inkling of what veterans of the series WANT, it's ledges that are just out of reach.  That secret room that you never noticed the last 20 times you went by the burned out candle, then have that AHA moment.  In a way, the review has actually sparked more interest on afterthought with some of those comments.  If a review complains about stuff like that, then those of us that know what goes on should be salivating.  I am also sure you can visit the options menu and nix the hints.

What a simpleton.  Someone HAD to knock the game, funny it came via Gamespot, knower of all games that should be a 10 because they have big 'splodies and knife melee kills and lots of machine guns and characters named Soap who run around their linnear worlds trying to save the world from Muslim-Commie-drug dealing terrorists.

Gamespot's review is ridiculous... He seems to complain just so he can complain... and the fact that he says it takes from gow3, and yet not really being specific is retarded.

It's a good thing I never really cared about their reviews in the first place, or else I'd be a little disheartened.

I hope Konami let's Mercurysteam do a sequel, it looks like if only big knocks about it is that it's too unoriginal.

And I second a sequel akin to Simons Quest.

To paraphrase Dr. Robotnik: "There's only room for one review in Mobius... Mine!"

I have to say though, the one review that cited boss battles as being kinda sucky has me worried. It is a tradition with Western games that boss battles are either way too simple or very poorly designed. I'd be thrilled if MercurySteam broke that tradition; the bits of the fight with the Evil Butcher looked pretty good, but with the Titans it looks like it's just, "climb this giant thing VEEEERY SLOWLY to stab its ear, rinse repeat". I hope they do a little more than shamble around and try to stomp you. Bayonetta did a great job with making some gigantic bosses that - gasp! - had just as many insane attacks and agility as you.

One of the other reviews, while positive, spent a good amount of time baaaawing that this isn't yet another SotN, to which I say cry moar. Old Castlevania needs some recognition too.

And the other 8 reviews highlited boss battles, so that's the least of my concerns :P

Well, people look for different things in boss battles. As long as they require more skill than the bosses in, say, Arkham Asylum, I'll be down.

Oh yeah please. AA is my favorite game of this gen (UNtil I get to play LOS of course) but those boss battles... to really enjoy them you can't count them as "boss battles" themselves but as "story bridges". They are just plain dumb. And even the (shameful) Gamespot review said: "These enemies are not stupid, you'll need a strategy".
