However, much is redeemed by the game’s post-credit ending, which is among the coolest video game finales this millennium.
Hype anyone?  ;D

i actually think the game informer review is written worse than the gamespot review. the gamespot review at least explains its points a bit further. it's a overall a bit too negative and there are a few generalizations about the fans, yeah, but then the gi review seems afraid to point out flaws. it does list some, but it quickly skips over them. strikes me as a bit odd.

"Konami finally produces an awesome 3D Castlevania by ripping off awesome games and infusing its signature style" - gameinformer, i am not sure how this is even a positive comment, if not for the signature style part.

but hey, it looks like the combat is pretty solid, even though they probably liked god of war so i shouldn't trust them! the exploration aspect while just being a bonus is looking to be pretty expansive. i can swing with that. everyone is complimenting the graphics, but i actually am a bit irked by the graphic engine in some cases, lighting and etc.

but seriously why are they all "heh, no old castlevania tunes here," the last few castlevania soundtracks have mostly original compositions. what.

NUMBERED SCORES, GOTTA LOVE THEM.

MAJOR spoiler (highlight):

Just watched the video review from g4, while the guy goes through the story yadda yadda, he alludes to GABRIEL being responsible for Marie's death...

I think that's a fairly predictable twist given the "nature" of the cinematic, too hidden, too obvious, and a node to a very recognized Konami Brand (Name and everything!  ;) )

Crisis, that was a real failure of a spoiler hiding.

Guess it doesn't matter much given the nature of this thread, though.

Gametrailers gave a review and it got a 7.9: Review - Castlevania: Lords of Shadow . Apparently people are complaining that the sub category scores (four of them) don't match the overall score (it should have been a 8.3) but personally, I think it's a good score anyway.

...Really, GI? You think Lords rips off juggling from God of War? How about from Devil May Cry, or even better, innumerable 2D fighters before it?

7.9 is really not a bad score. Gamers today expect everything to get 9.4 - 10.0 or else the game sucks. It's very obvious when you read comments on all of the big gaming sites. "Why did you give Halo Reach a 9.1 only! You're all Sony fanboys because you always hate Halo!!". Uhm. Right.

Anyway, Gametrailers even said that there are many great moments in LoS, but there's a bit of tedium to get there. I find that totally believable, but I'll wait until the game is in my ps3 before I say anything else..

Hey guys, make sure to stay away from the g4 video review. There's a clip in there that's literally only two seconds, but it's pretty telling.  :(

EDIT: Just noticed it's been mentioned anyway, but whatever.

The latest trailer inspired me and brough me back old memories from the 90's. I just like the end of the trailer where Gabriel is on floor struggling while staring at the vampire ; that was showing the revenge side of his personality. Needless to point at Jason Isaac's voice tone which is so inline with the atmosphere especially when he said ( and his VAMPIRE KILLER ).

Well done Mercury Steam .. I say well done.

About GS score ( 7.5 ), It doesn't matter anymore since other sites scored the game between 8 and 9. Actually, I wish Greg Kasavin was there to review the game since he is one of the best reviewers and he actually reviewed LOI and COD.

Gamespot revew is in, it's kinda low.

http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/lordsofshadow/video/6280011/castlevania-lords-of-shadow-video-review?hd=0 7.5
Wow. Wow wow wow wow, this kind of put a dent in my enthusiasm for this. Still holding onto my pre-order. :/

Actually now that I think about it they were really looking for originality but from what I've seen the game has been doing a good job of using the gameplay it's taken from others.

Watching GT's review now.

Ok now GT's review was a little worrisome but it sounded like they were really expecting a Metroidvania. 7.9? Shouldn't it be an 8.3?
