I don't have a problem, nor have I ever had a problem, with Belmonts being distant descendants of Dracula himself.  I don't understand why this bothers so many people other than the usual "IT....  IT JUST SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN 'CUZ NO" and "BAW HAW BELMONTS SHOULD BE PURE" hogwash.

I remember this same argument happening when Legends came out.

The reason I don't like the idea is because it seems needless, and makes the characters seem a little more insular than they need to be. To me, it would make hunting Dracula seem more like the Belmonts are cleaning up their own mess than saving humanity from evil.
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

another defencive agreesive post from Sumac *sigh*
Another unclear, but overall messy and overly defencive post from DarkPrinceAlucard *sigh*

Quote
i'm only making small straight to the point posts while you on the other hand or basically attacking anyone who doesn't agree with your point of view.
its MY opinion and i think you should respect it and leave it at that.
That is overreacting.
There is no need to reply for my posts. But you do it anyway.
I calmly expressed my opinion without attacking anyone, and explained why I hate this particular approach of some fans. Now you for whatever reason you couldn't stomach it and began throw some insults. You basically a text book example of what I was talking about.

I respect peolple opinion, but when they descend into ridicolous frenzy like that:
Quote
"IT....  IT JUST SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN 'CUZ NO"
there is no respect from me. I've seen this reaction one time too many and kind of tired from the same closeminded approach, when dealing with changes in the series.

Quote
i should just go with the flow and like it.
No one ask you to do this.
But there is no need to react on this changes like the end of the world. And especially prematurely judge those changes, especially when we didn't have any information of exact nature of this changes and context they take place in.

But I think all this points will go over your head and you explode into another "DURRR, Sumac defencive again"...
I'll be pleasantly surprised if this would not be the case.

Part of me thinks the word "fanboy" is kinda positive. I really dig people who are passionate about stuff. Surely there must be "fanboys" who LOVE a certain game but don't bitch about it. Though maybe they're not really fanboys, just fans.

Someday I'd like to reclaim the word  :D
I'm a fanboy of multiple things. Harmony of Dissonance is one such thing, but I try not to convince other people to like it, and I'm also willing to discuss things that aren't so great about it. So maybe I'm not a "fanboy" per se. Dunno.

Anyway, the word is used way too frequently here.

And I really liked LoS, but the future storyline has the potential of fail. I hope I'm wrong. I still think it's better if Mercury Steam DON'T try to explain too much about the Belmonts cause I don't think they can pull it off. Especially not if they're only gonna make one more game. People seem to think that they're gonna make a completely new timeline with many different games spanning many centuries, but that is probably not gonna happen. I expect 1 or possibly 2 more games. Can they explain all that needs to be explained in a satisfying way in just two more games? I have my doubts.

The story itself doesn't worries me (How bad could it be?--- a lot, but who plays CV for its story?  :P if they don't introduce motorcycle skeletons, I'm fine with it) it's the delivery of it. I don't want another gem like:

----"Watch the prince of Darkness, there's so much hate in his heart" ---

One boss fight later

--- "I didn't want to do this! Why do you make me fight you! :cries: I'm not worthy! :cries:"----

See? let alone the infamous Lord of Death monologue.. it's a mess until Satan comes and makes the last scene badass again.

They co-wrote the screenplay with an english comic book company,, tht's the problem, it has comic-type storytelling, next time go to  real writer or  movie screenwriter.. please.. :(

you know what Sumac i'm just going to ignore you because its obvious to anyone who has been reading your post that your a LOS fanboy and logic dictates that no mater what someone says about LOS if you deem it not to your liking your going to find a way to flip their posts around and call them a fanboy and insult their intellegence.
here is my initial post that started this between us

"this i agree with ^^^
i personally hate the idea of Alucard becomeing a Belmont it would be completely lame IMO.
belmont are meant to be Humans who hunt monsters so lets keep it that way shall we  ;D
"

now tell me how is that post fanboyish?
how is that post acting like its the end of the world?
how is that post anything short of me just posting my dislike of the idea and nothing more?

fact is anyone who has been reading this back and forth between you and me can tell who is overeacting and who the REAL fanboy here is so i'll agree to disagree and not reply to your posts anymore as long as you don't post yet another fanboyish defencive post ok?

EDIT
and please show me where in my previous post i threw a insult at you because i can't see it myself.
however i can see some insults towards myself in some of your post such as this line "Another unclear, but overall messy and overly defencive post from DarkPrinceAlucard *sigh*"

I don't necessarily have a problem with a Belmont becoming corrupted (we've seen it before with Soleiyu & Richter), it's the fact that they drastically decided to make Gabriel not just a forsaken soul but the KING OF THE VAMPIRES himself.

I don't want my Belmont to be associated with that, but he's not really a Belmont, but Cox said LoS explains why Belmonts fight monsters but it's just a prequel to the origin story aghaghhblargh

He's not the King of vampires.. He's the King of Vampires, werewolves, necromancers and everything in between.. just like the original -CV- Dracula!
LoS is a good origin story IMO, it's better explained than the whole "Mathias went 300 years learning dark magic and became the lord of darkness (?)" If the probelm is Gabriel being a Belmont.. we don¡t know aything yet, we don¡t know how it will be managed, where the next Belmonts are coming from and that stuff, the confirmation of both Alucard and Simon is intriguing, how will they manage to diferenciate the two bloodlines? I'm very excited for the future (hope it delivers)

So I finally saw an ad for this game. There was one on South Park Studios. Good job Konami at advertising the game 2 months after it came out.  :P

The story really has potential to be great if it's done properly, but it can also fall flat on it's face and be complete trash. Cox is going to have to convince me that Dracula Belmont is a good idea. I'm not too keen on the idea , but I haven't given up on it yet. Let's hope the DLC answers some big questions....which I'm pretty sure it will.

LoS is a good origin story IMO, it's better explained than the whole "Mathias went 300 years learning dark magic and became the lord of darkness (?)"

I'd have to disagree. In LoS, the cut scene before the credits didn't really match up with the cut scene after the credits. MS still skipped a large chuck of time.....an even larger chunk than IGA did. Both timelines left a lot to be answered.

True. I always wished IGA would've fleshed that part out a bit more. His stories are never anything amazing, but it's not fair to leave us hangin' like that.

I thought it was pretty clear with the Crimson Stone absorbing souls and their power.

The crimson stone made him Dracula. As soon as he possessed it he already became a Vampire.

I don't know. The thought of Mathias just running around and absorbing souls for 300 years sounds so boring and uninteresting. I imagine there's got to be more to it than that.

The stone didn't make him Dracula...it made him a vampire and gave him soul-absorbing powers. The title of 'Dracula' came later and there has to be a reason why he received it. Maybe humans gave him the title after he started tormenting them for killing Lisa or maybe it's directly connected to something that occurred in the 300 year gap.

Does anybody remember if IGA ever mentioned something in interview? I vaguely remember something, but maybe my memeory is playing tricks on me.

Mathias named himself Dracula because the writers needed a character with that name but couldn't think of a good reason other then that it applied to the rule of cool.
