I don't think Cox is trying that hard to be different that he'd abandon the very thing Dracula is known for. And goodness knows there are countless interpretations on what can or cannot kill a vampire.

I've been thinking and I'm not sure if Gabriel/Dracula is actually a vampire in that last scene.  He may just be a really powerful demon.  I mean all Gabriel/ Dracula said was that he could neither live, nor die.  Not all beings that are stuck between life and death are vampires.  If he is truly a vampire and wanted to die, why didn't he just walk out in sun light?  This is why I think that he may just be some sort of undead demon, but not a vampire.
The problem is, he goes into sunlight, he dies, then resurrect, so he doesn't really "die" at all.

off-topic: lol'd at this description of the series

Alucard is awesome. But I would rather keep him a seperate person from the Belmonts.
this i agree with ^^^
i personally hate the idea of Alucard becomeing a Belmont it would be completely lame IMO.
belmont are meant to be Humans who hunt monsters so lets keep it that way shall we ;D

They meant to be humans in original version of the timeline. And even they are more powerful then average humans.
What eliminates possibility of them being non-humans in the other timeline except some questionable "meant to be"? Nothing.

Rules and concepts of one timeline not neccesary must be used in the other. That's actually idea behind reboot (well, good reboot that is).

It's not a matter of it  can or cannot be done, but rather should it be done. My vote is no...it most definitely should not.

That I agree. Didn't like the notion of Trevor being Sonia and Alucard's son, so totally not thrilled in this now theory either.

The Belmonts having any direct relation to Dracula is always a bad idea. It's...just not right.

Oh dear lord this.

I'd rather have the Belmonts be non existant in this timeline and let some other vampire hunting bloodline take the stake than have them be direct desendent's of Dracula. :P

In fact, I am in favor of the hero in the next game being apart of the Lecarde family, that family never get's any love. :'(

This is why I'm not bothered by the possibility of them being descended from Gabriel. It's just one supernatural explanation being traded for another.

Three words: Let-it-be
We can't change anything, if they are noe Darc's descendants, good, if they are not, good, we don't know anything yet BTW they could come with infinite explanations, and we'll hav to adapt ourselves to them, like it or not. Also, it's not that Castlevania's old story was a literature classic so chancing on thing or two is fine if it's needed for good things. Imagining our own canon is fun and useful in IGA's story because it's so empty and all of our guesses fill incredibly well, but in this one, good or not, there's no place for especulation, if they are Drac's descendants, so what? let's wait for MS to give us the reason they decided to make it like that, I know there is one.

Let it be.

In my personal canon, Lords of Shadows is a bad dream Simon Belmont had. What a horrible night to have a Gabriel.
Ugh, this joke sucks.

To me it's an Elseworld's take on the Castlevania mythos, nothing else. Just because it's a new timeline doesn't mean the original one doesn't exist anymore.

If Mercury Steam were to make just one more game, I would prefer if they just let that game be about Drac/Gabe fighting Satan in a final showdown in modern times. It would be extremely different, and it's definitely not what I originally wanted for this series, but it would mean that MS wouldn't need to explain the Belmont bloodline any further. Just leave it an enigma! Make it a two game timeline and focus on these two events - When Gabe turns into Drac (check!). And then when Gabe kills Satan again and dies doing so. Or something. The End.

After that, someone else should take over Castlevania, not IGA, not Cox - someone new. I like LoS but the storyline confused me and did many unnecessary things with the old characters. If it's a reboot they should've left at least HALF of the IGA characters alone and introduced brand new characters instead. It's hard to even talk about the likes of Brauner, Cornell and Olrox now cause they exist in multiple universes. No need for that.  KTHNXBYE.

So why do you bother arguing how are or are not the Belmonts? leave it alone then. It's fine, it makes sense, it plays good and looks better, not waste our time arguing about unneccessary picks then.
