N ope, that was the worse part. He wasnt "seduced" by the dark side, he was just an insensitive emo jerk who was TRICKED into the dark side because it was all edgy like he was. He was tricked into killing a Jedi, lied to about their intentions, and from there figured OH WELL. SEEMS LIKE IM A BAD GUY NOW.

And then does a sudden 180 from confused to just plain evil? sorry. Nope. not buying it. he didnt even QUESTION killing the kids? Even from the beginning, he was clueless about the emperor, even though he might as well have a neon sign above his head saying "IM A SIIIIITH"

In fact, just watch this. sums it all up very nicely.

I'd completely bail on MS if they let LoS reach Star Wars prequel levels of storytelling. The storytelling already leaves a lot to be desired.

Lol with the neon sign remark (so true).  As for Anakin and Gabriel being different in the way of becoming evil.  They aren't exactly the same, but there are similarities.  They both decended into darkness trying to save loved ones.  Gabriel's wife was already dead, but the fact remains that they were trying to protect the ones they love most.  Another similarity is that they were both apart of prophecies.  Anakin was to bring balance to the force and Gabriel was suppose to save the world.  Neither of them failed, but the end result wasn't quite what was expected.  Anakin did bring true balance to the force, but in the favor of darkness.  Gabriel did save the world, but he didn't get his wife back.  The fact is that they both did what the did without questioning what they were doing.  The difference was that Anakin killed innocent kids whereas Gabriel simply killed monsters.  The fact is that they did it without questioning it and without any remorse what so ever.  Last, but not least, they were both motivated by love.

Pretty much my exact thoughts. I think those movies are why I find the "descent into darkness" idea so cringe-worthy to begin with; they ruined it for all media forever.

At least Gabriel's mostly a stand-up guy who asks for forgiveness. Anakin was a whiny prick who had the foresight of a goldfish.

Not to mention they ruined two big things.
The force, which was this mystical magical ESP like shit, basically being explained by bullshit science, and used like the freaking holy spirit,

And Darth Vader's mysteriousness. All we knew was he was a Jedi that was "seduced by the dark side", and as time went on, we learned that he somehow paid dearly for it with being trapped within his armor. He was literally a black knight. And he redeemed himself.

So he was a Space Samurai, who became a Black Knight, who got a Viking funeral.

Come on. Thats badass.

Then they made him an emo jerk with zilch emotion and anger management issues.
Come on Lucas. your neck has already been swallowed up far enough. MUST you make it be swallowed further by your chin with your love of special effects over quality writing?

I also was not a fan of replacing the original "force ghost" of Vader with Hayden Christensen. "oooh but he appears the way he was before he went to the dark side!"

bull shit. He redeemed himself at the end, he should look like he did, but un-burned.

That's a short coming of MANY modern movies. Everything has to be explained to sound logical according to science, even fictional stuff. God, I miss the days when nobody cared about the ins and outs of the specifics. Sometimes less is more. Now, everything has to be spoonfed to people, and if someone doesn't and goes for the more classic approach, people complain how it's bad writing and unrealistic.

And it couldnt be explained as well, the super psychic powers it was in the original because..?

Would make more sense... those who can focus their minds enough can master "the force".
Shit doesnt need 'xplainin D:<

Coincidentally this is what ruined the Silent Hill movie for me. (Well, that and the awful awful writing.)

What's funny is in term of video game based movies....it still wasn't all that bad.
