Topic: Music you've been digging lately

EOS has some good stuff. Only really heard Crimson and Purgatory Afterglow, but by far the best song I've heard from them is "Twilight". Like that's a top ten death metal song for me.



Just stumbled on this band Wargasm, digging this song a lot. It's like early 2000s electroindustrial-tinged nu-metal mixed with Lords of Acid and digital hardcore. And the singer's cute and sounds a bit like Poppy.

Damn, okay, that's pretty awesome. I like how they have a similar guitar tone to Entombed and Dismember, and Swano's vocals are just as great as they are on The Spectral Sorrows. But this is more my speed.

Suicide Commando led me to more electronic stuff lately. And I heard this Ministry cover and thought, "look at how they massacred by boy" at first, but damn, I was hooked as soon as the chorus comes in. Still, I missed the original riff.

Haven't bought a KMFDM album since 2003's WWIII. Heard some tracks off the new one and decided to pick it up, and I think it's great.

I really like their sense of melody. I've had a song of theirs on my Spotify for a while, but I just haven't thought to check out more until now.

Also digging the new Midnight and Aborted albums. Still waiting for the new Zombeast and Benighted albums to drop, too.

At this point in my Hatsune Miku journey I've begun exploring The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku, which I'd heard in passing a couple times but got its hooks in recently. 

This video edit that brought its vibe across in a fairly epic way is what did it for me.

Rediscovering my love of Swans. Kicking myself for selling my smallish CD collection I had.



Also kicking myself for not picking up the 3-CD remaster of Filth, their debut album—although it might get reprinted, I'm told.

I wish they'd do a 3-CD redo of the Cop/Young God • Greed/Holy Money compilation; the old one has some remixed tracks and doesn't feature the original mixes, and I just want all that material from that period (1984–86) to be collected and complete. Till then, I might track down the original 1987 Greed/Time Is Money CD if I can find it at a decent price.

Just picked up the 2020 "full dynamic range" edition of Swansong by Carcass. Even in the mid '90s, this album was always awfully compressed. It's great hearing these recordings now with better dynamics.

Was wondering if people were still doing industrial hip-hop like dälek's Absence, Saul Williams' The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust!, and Kanye's Yeezus albums, then I remembered Ho99o9 and decided to pick up their latest album. I'm only halfway through but it's damn good so far.

Picked up Peaceville's 30th anniversary CD of Sigh's Infidel Art. I think this is the best it's ever sounded.



Not sure I can say the same for their CD of Scorn Defeat. I haven't listened to it enough yet but there's some tape warble not present on previous issues. As of now, I prefer the 2011 remaster by Deep Send Records, followed by the original edition by Deathlike Silence.

Still, glad Peaceville has been reissuing the classic albums, and I'm looking forward to their releases of Ghastly Funeral Theatre and Scenario IV: Dread Dreams. These albums need to be more widely available; the Chinese editions by Mort were pretty bad and I sold most of those off, save for the Maor Appelbaum remaster of Scenes from Hell that sounds loads better than the original.
