It's pretty much a simple, bare-bones story, there's no dialogue between the characters whatsoever (except for generic messages like "help!" and "thank you")

I think the concept of the Grimoire interesting. But they should have called it Necronomoniconsomethin instead.

Necronomicon was used in Castlevania 64 and Legacy of Darkness.  That's where THOSE events are recorded...
...so naturally HoD couldn't use that book... unless y'know, it added those characters as sprites.  That would've been cool of them.  Ha ha!  Carrie Fernandez spell action.

The Grimoire is a powerful book, and it's Sypha's SuperAttack in Castlevania Judgment.  It contains the strongest three elemental spells, and locks the opponent into feeling their full power.

I wonder if in the Japanese version the book is called Grimoire. Since Necronomicon is a name I wouldn't think most Japs would know about (neither is Grimoire now that I think of it but oh well). The N64 games are now canon sidestory after all (aww yeah)

I much prefer the Necronomicon over this weird...Grimoire...thingie  :P

At least the Necronomicon is much more menacing and not clouded with IGA ego. It's also much cooler cause it has all the forbiddon knowledge about the 'Old ones' or 'Deep ones', which-ever you prefer. Grimoire just sounds like an excuse to rip off the Necronomicon and if anything it's probably no bigger or exciting then a supermarket tabloid. Way ta go IGA! <--- I'm being dsarcastic here  :)

You guys realize that a grimoire is a type of book, and not 'a' specific book? Where as the Necronomicon is a fictional titled book of the dead.

Yes, it is told in the game's online help screen thingies.

" The story, such as it is, involves a cursed book called the Grimoire, in which the story of the evil citadel Castlevania is recorded. However the castle comes to life within the pages of the book, taking various forms from previous incarnations, and the heroes of the past, also recorded in the book and coming to life within its pages, must once again fight to put an end to the curse. This story allows characters from eras ranging from 1797 to 2036 to come together in the same castle to fight evil. "

- Orginal Castlevania Wiki
Well at least they didn't try fitting it into canon. It's a simple plot that's been done before and it works.

By the way, any new footage of Julius?

I'm aware, but do not care.  Still been used before.  Obviously the FFTA2 one is different, so.....

Sorry for being such faggots, Uzo. But seriosuly I guess I assumed it was a specific book because the wiki wrote it that way, thanks for that piece of info though.

Correction there uzo. I have an actual copy of the Necronomicon. Since the popularity of Lovecraft's work has escalated over the decades, many people were mezmorized about such a book actually existing. I think in truth, there never was such a book to begin with since this was all coming out of Lovecraft's dreams and the like. But none-the-less, this book is sitting in my bedroom even as I write this. I can only conclude that somebody or maybe even Lovecraft himself, wrote the book as a part of the whole Cthulhu mythos and simply wanted to put some of his "crazed" fans minds to rest. However, this book is much more then just a book of the dead. It even contains spell cantations as well as info on the 'Old ones' too. It is the forbiddon book of knowledge writen by the mad arab; Abdul alhazred...what a name. But if this grimoire book is of FFT then isn't IGA ripping of Square-Enix just to saticfy his lack of creativity? He IS lazy!

Though the real book has a cover made out of human flesh (or so it is said) and all the incantations in the copies lack a certain element for them to work right?
still the book (as in the fictions) was said to contain such power that it could bring about the end of existence.

I am well aware of it's origins, but I didn't feel like writing a book to explain it in intricate detail like you just have. Therefore the abridged "book of the dead" explanation works fine. Less of a correction and more of an additional note.

And no a grimoire is not something square-enix made up, now pay attention to the same post you're claiming to correct.
