Oddly enough, HOD is currently the top downloaded game on xbox live arcade.

Nothing odd about it.  With the recently released new chapters combined, Castlevania HD is much bigger and better than it was months ago, giving people more reasons to buy and enjoy it with far more content than what it started with in August.   ;D

i figure i'll wait until it's been out for one year.  if i don't hear anything about a PS3 release shortly thereafter, i'll have to bite the bullet and get myself an XBox360.

I do hate how they overpriced the extras, but I must have Stage 11. That looks awesome!

And probably Stage 10, too. I didn't even hear of anything being released after the pyramid stage. I might have to give this game another try.

No disrespect meant to anyone, but the fact that people believe that this is a game that should be actually be considered "outstanding" from a developer's or a programmer's point of view proves the old business axiom of "there is a sucker born every minute." Hence why Konami can put out trash like this: because people will buy it. :(

Hey now, it's not trash! It's... recycling! Think of it as a fort built out of old pizza boxes.

A fort that however nice, still smells like cheese.

maybe they will take a hint from LoS and make an outstanding next gen console game. Its actually shameful that IGA's response to LoS is a DLC game that rehashes everything from post Aria games, and even games not even associated with Castlevania. Cant wait till they make MGS DLC for the game. And if they were going to rehash the 8 bit vanias, proving that they are not above graphics differences, they might as well have used Aria, which was far better than Dawn and would have made for some really neat stages. Not to mention the triumphant return of Aria's Clocktower theme, which is one of the best clocktower themes.

Unless konami feared IGA making a side game more successful than the console game konami was pushing as the true new Vania game, like he did with Symphony and thus forbade him from making anything above CVHD

Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

I've never had any illusions that this was an "outstanding" game, but this doesn't mean there isn't any fun to be had from playing it. I think the staggering rarity of some of the items was the nail in the coffin for me, but it was a fun distraction while it lasted.

"Sadly" enough there will not be new DLC for this game. Konami said that Getsu Fuma Den were the last level for the game and Getsu Fuma was the last character. An odd choice if you ask me.

It seems the point of HOD was either to make money for Konami, or prove IGA can still make financially successful games. Does this mean Konami will actually allow IGA to have a big budget? I would only assume he is happy with how something (that likely required veeeeeeerrryyyy little money to make) like this has turned out.

Perhaps the results show IGA can make his best profit on the lowest possible budget. In that case he may never be given a bigger budget again.

I think it was a clever release although a lot of the characters are over powered in there. The extra stages are probably about the only real challenge left in the game
Richter: You steal mens' souls and make them your slaves.

Dracula: Perhaps the same could be said of all religions.

The challenge returns if you start with fresh characters just like starting any of the harder Castlevanias from scratch.   ;D  Many have been doing that and have been getting more enjoyment out of the chapters instead of just using their maxed out characters and best gear.
