I donno. It's literally a book about information brought to life....so I think the game doesn't have a story, but it was a concept to take assets from older games.

It's also non-canon.

The localized storyline is either poorly translated or it isn't explained in the game itself because Despair does have a storyline. It's really bare bones though. It's basically about the player being trapped in the magic book and they try to escape by borrowing the powers of the heroes recorded in it. Which means that they suddenly look just like them for some reason. 

Also, IGA said HoD was a sidestory which means that it is canon.

Interesting that they cut out Hammer though. Unless they meant that as the last stage to be released... The only reason I would have gotten this game is for playable Hammer, and they can't even follow through with their own plans. Voice files for Hammer would have been nice too...

Way to disappoint me beyond belief, and remove any hope of me buying this game Konami. I'll always wonder now what it would have been like to be Hammer.

Though I have been watching my brother play this recently and it looks like lots of fun.
