I don't think anyone else mentioned it, which surprises me, so I will;

Old Axe Armour Mode.

Seriously, that last mode was so hyped (before we knew what it was). What could it be? A John and Eric coop mode, Simon (considering it was the 20th anniversery), or perhaps a Wind mode? Nope, you get a totally character-less, meaningless and extremly boring mode. The other modes weren't really much better (excluding the REAL mode).

I think the point of the extra modes was to do them on Hard mode Lv. 1.

I still haven't seen anyone beat Axe armor on Lv. 1.

Nowadays you are either a graphics whore or a fanboy. BR is Shank not CV. It is ridiculous to think that it is better than CV. If it was CV then it would be what RE4 is to Resi, a series killer. Dumb it down and make it look pretty. Enough idiots will buy it.

Really? I liked Old Axe Armor mode. Sure, there could have been something better, like a Wind mode or even Death/Drac mode, but still, Old Axe Armor was a bit of change.

Rabid Youtube Castlevania freaks in general. They seem to tear apart every minor thing and blow it out of proportion. It's not just disappointing, but it's disheartening to know that people can be so disgustingly pessimistic.

Also, I liked PoR quite a bit, even moreso than DoS. I can understand that people may not feel otherwise, but it's strikes me as a bit odd that this could be considered their biggest disappointment in the series, a series that harbored the likes of Castlevania Legends and Adventure.

Oh well. To each his own, I suppose.

Not really the most dissapointing thing ever, but I think they should have included Bloodlines into Portrait of Ruin. I know a lot of people who are really into new Metroidvania style CV and haven't played anything before SotN. So, throwing in Bloodlines would have been a nice touch for newer and classic fans of the series

People say that PoR has absolutely NOTHING in common with Bloodlines.

but since Bloodlines traveled all about Europe, the Paintings were a very nice throwback, especially 13th Street (And not just because they used "Iron Blue Intention" as the background music) Late Victorian London-like cities reflect very close to bloodline's time frame.

Well i wonder if the abandon'd castle is "Castlevania" since the other castle is labled "dracula's Castle" since its a fact Vlad Tepes had many castles during his wars.

CV2: needs bosses and a real dracula it should have jsut named the boss death and added sycthes

SOTN: Dracula, bot battles are to freaking easy, i used a gameshark to make the game a challenge...

CV64/legacy: not much to complain about i throughly enjoyed the games, could ahve used mroe vocal dialog

DOS: happy ending shouldn;t have bene the real ending, i had no issues witht he anime.

Squeezing a 320x224 game like Bloodlines into the DS's 256x192 screen would have made an already dumpy game even uglier.  I definitely wish it could have been done, but at that cost, it wouldn't have been worth it.

"Dracula's Castle" is just another name for Castlevania, or vice versa.  They're one and the same.

Everytime IGA announces a new Castlevania that isn't a Chronicles title.  The guy does really well with Chronicles  titles...everything else is too hit-or-miss to be anything but a disappointment.

You're right, Symphony's way too easy. Mind sharing what kind of codes you used? Did you lower Al's level or something?

every 3d vania cuts the cock tower and other crap out.

Yeah, that Cock Tower is a real Dick isn't it?  :-\

 :P

My biggest let-down is probably the storyline of Dawn of Sorrow, along with the anime artwork for the two games.

My second one is Circle of the Moon. Everyone hyped it up so much for me ( I didn't play it until after AoS and others), and when I got my hands on it, I didn't even feel like grinding past the third boss...

Wait for Esco to get his thigny done, that'll be fun. If only he'd finish it faster though.

CotM rules. The bosses were harder than the post SotN games. Of course, Nathan was controlled like the older games mixed with the newer ones somewhat so thats probably what did some of it. The system was pretty cool too.

I was disappointed in Dawn's gimmick on teh DS, stupid magic circle. And Im disappointed in all the games not on Consoles cuz I don't own really any handhelds.

You're right, CotM was awesome. The bosses were extremely hard, though, considering the lack of any real recover because potions are hard to comeby, and there's no merchant. That's why I STILL haven't beaten Drac's final form...
