Looks very much like Castlevania, coming to XBLA and PSN this summer. :)

Never played any of the older Bloodraynes games. This one looks pretty sweet though! This is going to be a great summer for XBLA.

Looks great. Why isn't Konami hooking up with these guys for an XBLA Castlevania? Contra 4 was one of the few good things to come out of the outsourcing bullshit, and of course they ignore them completely for no reason.

Looks like a side story or something. Hope it's good, because then I could have something to fill the void of the 2D CVs we aren't getting. Also, if it's good, it might just continue on as it's own little series. Pretty interesting, considering the other Bloodrayne games are totally different than this.

Never liked the Bloodrayne series, but from the looks of this THIS is a must have!!

The artwork looks top notch. Ditto on wishing Konami would make an oldschool 2D Cv just like this.

W-wow!
This game already gets major points for the following:
-hand-drawn high-resolution comicbook-style artwork
-fluid animations (almost like Guilty Gear)
-zoom in and zoom out graphics, shadow effects (I saw those on Donkey Kong Country Returns in the sunset stage)
-interesting melee combat and enemies
-nice dark backgrounds (yet detailed, like the white stained-glass windows)
-blood & metal spark effects
-PLATFORMING (did you see the clocktower-esque gears section and the spiked corridors you have to air dash through?)
-Nice savepoint action (towards the end, if that is a savepoint)

Too bad I don't have an X360...

I agree with Larson n Natla. :P

Well, I suppose it's because I'm starting to see the potential of High-Resolution gaming with classic styles.  I will always love pixel artwork, but there's really something classy with the visuals of today's games.  I think it started with games like Odin Sphere, which stylized spritework beyond just little tiles, and added effects to the art.  Here are some more examples:

-Odin Sphere (already mentioned)
-Muramasa: The Demon Blade (done by the same Odin Sphere people, and it's visually delicious)
-A Boy And His Blob (looks almost like a living comic book, but it's a puzzle-platformer)
-Pokemon Black&White (why? The Pokemon are still using sprites, but now use them in marionette-style pieces that are carefully arranged, rotated, scaled, and twisted accordingly)

If anyone has other examples, feel free to share.  I think the 2D Fighting games like Guilty Gear and such do this as well since they use bigbigBIG sprites.

I want a new Castlevania done in this style (even though I'm fond of LoS as well as the 2D spritwork stuff), just because it's possible and I think would look awesome.

I'll second the recommendation for ODIN SPHERE. Absolutely gorgeous game!!

I heard a rumor several months ago that Muramasa: The Demon Blade will be coming to XBLA and PSN. Let's hope so :o

Seems I need to check this forum more often before posting this in CV discussion, but it was topical.

In terms of downloadable games, this is what Konami should have been aiming for when they decided Castlevania needed in on that market. No cut & paste cheap cop-outs. Some honest-to-god effort. And damn does this look pretty, though I have never really cared for Bloodreign before....but I'll play this in a heartbeat.

You hear me, Konami? Kindly get your shit together. THIS is the kind of stuff we want for Castlevania.
