I can almost smell it... exclusive gold anniversary Castlevania: De$pair, eco-friendly edition (recycling all the way) with alucard skin for both consoles  :-[

Ok now seriously, they owe use something great

Actually, the 25th Anniversary is the Silver Anniversary. The Golden Anniversary is 50 years. :)

Yeah, I already have my Alucard theme on my 360. I wouldn't need another one. No wallpapers, no themes/skins, especially not on their own. Harmony of Despair would NOT be a good present on its own. At least they did introduce Simon as DLC. I have him, he's a good character and adds a lot of variety to the game, which is monotonous on its own.

Wouldn't a "game of the year" edition of LoS be a terrible 25 anniversary? Just the game with the 2 DLC's? What a nightmare....

$5 bucks says that they will give PSN people HoD and call it a day....

Oh my god, that's even worse. If that happens I will have lost all hope in humanity (beginning with Konami) and perhaps myself! Given that it's a reboot of the saga and not even part of series canon, I wouldn't consider that an anniversary at all!

Here's what I'd like to see them do: Put out a Castlevania 25th Anniversary Retrospective Box Set. It'd include on one or two discs all the NES, SNES, Genesis, GB, GBA, N64, PCE, and PSX games. Basically games that are hard to find and that most fans have to resort to using emulators to be able to play. They could have graphics filters or use minor graphical retouching for them so they look a little better on modern setups, have menus that file the games by system, and have some sort of information (or perhaps interviews with the producers/creators) about the making of the games.

What this would do is make the older back catalog readily available. Konami gets to cash in on previous hits and the community has a standard of being able to play the older games on newer systems without having to resort to emulation. This might not even have to be made a physical release, they could do it on PSN, XBL, and whatever the online marketplace for the Wii is, though a physical release WOULD be pretty cool.

And at the same time, they could be preparing for the next original 3D release.

Honestly, I don't know what I would be happy with them doing for a 25th Anniversary. All of the classics have been available for a while on Wii and they've given us Symphony of the Night too much times already. I wish they had a new game ready like they did for Portrait of Ruin. That was a real surprise, showing up to pick up my pre-ordered game and receiving that really cool package.

It's tough to consider. I agree with everyone that it needs to be cross platform, but now that Castlevania is technically across five platforms. Even if we limit it to just the Wii, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360, only two of them are alike enough to have like packages...

How about a Castlevania Documentary on blueray/dvd? It could have plenty of interviews, never-before-seen footage of our favourite games being in development, cancelled games, cancelled pitches, secrets, artwork, stuff... Maybe someone already mentioned something like that?

...So a DS/PSP game? Either that or Mobile Phone.

...No, sir. Console game would be the best choice for an anniversary gift...

I agree.

And I highly doubt that Konami would even consider making a CV anniversary game without Xbox360,PS3,3DS,or the Wii in mind.

Its just not logical lol.

I'm sure I'll LOVE playing Harmony of Despair, so let's get that out of the way.  BUT HD is the most colossal monument of cannibalized code, recycled sprites, and copy/paste levels in all of Castlevania (and that's REALLY saying something).  Shamelessly cheap production values have put 2D Castlevania in the gutter --and if they do package HD as the Anniversary gift, it would be a perfect opportunity for us to drive the issue home.  Xbox players, who bought the game a year ago, would also be left in the cold --and let's not forget the Nintendo loyalists with their 3DSs and Wiis...  Any real Anniversary MUST be a multi-platform effort.

I suggest they get to working on Castlevania HD2 which should use Aksys Graphics (like Hard Corps: Uprising) in the Ayami Kojima or OoE style art direction.
If they do that, and overhaul the "leveling" for Skill Based Characters as well as overhaul Some characters to play more like thier original DS counterparts, the game could be sold XBLA or on Disc and probably make ALOT or money.

I agree... This is really a dilemma for me, since I don't own any video game console anymore.

Not Konami's problem. Just buy the damn console they release the game on.

Times be hard, and not everyone can afford them. I no longer have a next-gen console since my 360 crapped out.

Then again, I'm still not really complaining.
