Ahhh Simon Templeman. In the days of "You were almost a Jill sandwich!" we had that guy damn near carrying Legacy of Kain with his excellent VA. The guy doing Vorador was also a great stage actor who'd been around for a long time, so I can't discredit him either.

But to me, Simon Templeman is to Legacy of Kain as David Hayter is to Metal Gear and Michael Ironside is to Splinter Cell.

This might not be a traditional revive, but I've been thinking of this a lot. I know LJN has made some crappy licensed games, among them the NES X-Men and Wolverine. Wolverine, in particular, I wouldn't mind seeing a new game with him. Maybe, God of War-style, Wolverine going crazy against various enemies and fighting bosses like Sabertooth, Cyber, Silver Samurai, Omega Red and such. Maybe some of the Claremont/Miller influences, and have it be a very comic-inspired game(not a X-Men movie inspired game, like X-Men Origins: Wolverine). Action brawler, adamantium claw slashes, climbing up walls, scrapping up robots(maybe even Sentinels) and kickin ass! I just dont' know why it hasn't really came across anybody's mind yet. Maybe X-Men/Wolverine's not as famous as they were in the 90s, but even the released X-Men games tend to be more RPG-esque). Just full-on Wolverine brawler, in a world/setting of the comics. That would be AWESOME!!

Though, that also makes me think of how well the Batman franchise has had some nice lasting success with it's video games. Sure, there's been some duds(Batman Forever for SNES), but NES Batman is pretty acclaimed by gamers, and almost everybody I know loved the Batman Returns beat 'em up for SNES. Even now, with Arkahm Asylum and Arkham City, the Bat-Games are still pretty much loved. Doesn't hurt that a lot of the developers actually care about making the games, and it carries over.

It's something I wished happened with other franchises. Sometimes, when franchises switch hands from studio to studio, the care and dedication is lost. Hell, that even happens in the sake company over years(sometimes newer developers just can't make a great game, or older developers loose their way). It's why I don't trust Konami with reviving some games, just as, if they ever brought back the Chrono series, I don't trust "current" Square Enix with continuing it on. Look what they did to Parasite Eve. So sad....

Kinda like how Spider-man has gotten some gaming love between movies with Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time? I'd totally be up for that. Hell this get's me to thinking about that X-men game Capcom made for SNES back in the 90's. I lived playing as Wolverine in that one. Psylocke, too. She should've had a parody/cameo in Shinobi at some point like Spider-man and Batman did.

And, speaking of Shinobi. How about a revival of that series. And I mean with Joe Musashi. Fuck the pansy-ass 4-eyed cyber ninja punks that came later. Let's see some quality Shinobi III action.

Yeah, It's sad that the only thing SE has for me these days is a port of DQ7 to 3DS.

Front Mission needs a sequel. I haven't finished the other ones yet (except the first one, which I hacked my way through). But I want fully-customizable characters! All the characters had built-in stats and if you knew how the character would eventually level up, you could totally overhaul his/her stats to dominate late game. I mean, if your character specialized in melee fighting and you kept equipping him with an SMG, he'd be gimped by the end of the game. But if you gave that character a beatstick or really good fists, he could OHKO anything by the end of the game practically. And the main characters always had the same builds, I swear. Or maybe it's just me. I want to be able to train my rookie soldier to excel in hand-to-hand combat without any innate abilities to hamper him! And of course I want the game to stay within the original universe, not the Gun Hazard/Evolved crappy universe -- their wanzer and gun names sucked. I swear, more thought and effort was put into the canon than the spin-offs.

I'd only want a new Shining game if the guys from Camelot all got back together and worked on it. I want the same writers, same artist, same designer, same planner. It's okay if the programmers are different, just don't give them any say.

Speaking of the Shining series, I was under the impression that Shining Blade was (sort of) a return to form. It has a similar battle system as the Valkyria Chronicles series, which IMO is a great way to go for the series. Though I obviously haven't played it since the Shining series never gets localized anymore, but the thought of a Shining game with a Valkyriaesque battle system sounds pretty sweet to me. It feels like a natural evolution of the original Shining Force trilogy. But yeah, Camelot ftw.

I've got a few surprises...

1.) Hybrid Heaven. This was one of the surprises on the N64 by Konami. It was Metal Gear meets X-Files with a unique mix of real-time and RPG action. It was rough around the edges in some areas, but it had an appealing art direction and world, and an engrossing combat system. I want to see it revived.

2.) Spy Fiction. This PS2 game by Access Games and Swery65 (of Deadly Premonition fame) was Mission Impossible meets Metal Gear. It was intentionally corny, yet very slick in its art direction. Some of the ideas used in here were later put into the Metal Gear franchise. Unlike Metal Gear, though, it has more context-sensitive and espionage-based puzzles. At one time, it seemed a sequel was in the works, but there has been no word for many years now.

3.) Winback: Covert Operations. This original N64 title by Koei was revived in a PS2 remake and a PS2 sequel (Project Poseidon). The original on N64 and PS2 was one of the originators of the cover system (long before Gears of War), and did so in a realistic setting where sneaking around and engaging in gunfights had to be very strategically handled. The sequel (by a new crew) was more of an arcade experience, making it far inferior and more repetitive, yet still somewhat amusing.

And a few one might expect to some extent...

4.) Strider. Capcom's ninja needs to come back in full 3D with a balanced gameplay system of action and platforming with clever stage design that utilizes his skills and the unique world he lives in/

5.) Bionic Commando. Capcom/GRIN's 2009 3D Bionic Commando nearly knocked it out of the park. They still got an in-field homerun in my mind, though, creating one of the most impressive games of this generation. Now that the tricky gameplay mechanics were solidified, all you need to do is put a bit more meat on the bones of the levels, and you have an instant masterpiece.

6.) Banjo Kazooie. I want a real Banjo Kazooie on par with the original or the overlooked GBA game. Tooie felt too scatterbrained and a bit self-destructive to the brand, while Nuts & Bolts was a different game altogether. I'd like to see Rare and Nintendo work this out, if indeed Microsoft is willing to sell. (There was a rumor that this could happen at some point).

7.) Contra. Respectfully revive this series without making in Gears of War, and it's an instant buy.

It's titled X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse. And yes it was an awesome game from the get-go! Unlike the two Sega X-Men games this one didn't require you to collect power chargers for your mutant abilities or to upgrade your powers if you took a hit. You could use 'em whenever you wanted. The only thing that irked me was that in order to use your powers you need to perform a button config like a move done in Street Fighter II. Unless of course if you're playing the game in the practice run then you only need to press a single button use your character's mutant ability. I wish someday someone will bring about a hack that takes out the button config for using powers and replaces it with just a single button.

Whatever happened to the "Oddworld" series?
Anyone remember "Space Harrier" for the Master System?
Golden Axe was mentioned already, but damn I miss that game
Kid Dracula needs to make a comeback (he can team up with Pumpkin)
Power Stone 3 (i remember playing the first on Dreamcast with my friends, it was awesomely fun)
Red Earth/Warzard 2

I mentioned Altered Beast in my initial post, but most forgot that they released a new one way back when the GBA was popular

Altered Beast: Guardian of the Realms Game Sample - GBA

then there was Zillion and it's sequel, the Tri-Formation

Zillion II: The Tri Formation (Sega Master System)

I'm kinda surprised that none of us have yet to mention this game:
TAS HD: Genesis Gunstar Heroes (USA) in 35:28.92 by arkiandruski
(Yeah, my fault for almost forgetting it myself.)
It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.

Then Lords of Shadow 2 just takes a big, semi-solid, smelly, pea-green dump all over everything.

@Crisis:

There's a Space Harrier 3D title coming to the 3DS.  "SEGA 3D Classics" line (similar to the Nintendo 3D Classics).

Also, when talking about Sega and Space Harrier, this seems obligatory:

Don't they have Gunstar Heroes 2 out for the GBA?

They do but it's a very watered down version of the first game. They add in some little changes but IMO it's pretty much the same game.
